And yet, I seem to recall someone saying that, if your birthday-date was in your profile, and you were active on these boards, someone would remember it... :-\
So, where's my birthday-thread ???

I'll have to do it myself then...

* copycat wishes himself a happy 30th birthday

Yeah, NOW I'm only 1 hour ahead, but wait till summer - with the daylight savings I'll be 2 hours ahead!!!  :suffer:

What are you talking about? Daylight saving is great!  :D
But if it doesn't start at exactly the same day as ours, I'll still have some time to be at least 2 HOURS AHEAD of everyone (unless someone from Australia start posting  ;D)

* copycat thinks there's a worldwide consensus on the time  DST starts and stops, especially since the mainland-EU adapted themslves to the UK-date a few years ago

I have no problem with DST as such, but the time going ahead or behind always wreaks havoc on my biorhythm (?sp) and that's what I don't like. I don't think this board has an Australian member (yet). 8)

Oh, but I still feel young, that's not the problem. The problem arises when you compare the year of my birth on my ID and the current year. (Well, problem might be a big word, maybe it's more of an inconvenience.) 8)

Quote from: copycat on November 15, 2003, 03:02:58 PMWow, what do you need 3 VCR's for? BTW, we've got six for 4 persons, but that's because my dad's hobby is (moving) images.

Heh. Everybody marvels at my roomie and I's tech collection, but honestly it was simply a matter of us each bringing our stuff with us when we became roomies... we haven't bought much tech since we've moved in together.

Our three VCRs consist of:
His VCR he brought with him when he moved in, and is currently hooked up to the TV in his room.

The combo DVD/VCR we jointly bought not too long ago, which is hooked up to the living room TV.

My VCR I brought with me when I moved in, which gets swapped between the living room TV and my computer.

I did used to own a second VCR as well. I used to be a big videotaping junkie, so I was always dubbing off commercials to create collections, and I still do a lot of dubbing of copies for tape trading over the Net. I'm also big on video capture, so it's far more convenient to have a VCR I can just leave hooked to my computer all the time, while still having a VCR available for TV watching. (shrug) In fact, if I ever have any extra money (ha), I'm tempted to own a second VCR again, just because I do enough tape trading that swapping the VCR back and forth for dubbing and capturing is getting annoying.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Ah a combo DVD one. Is it a DVD-writer? My dad is currently copying (his own) videotaped stuff to DVD.

I wish! One of the reasons I'm so cranky about not being able to save up enough money for a new computer is that I really want to have a DVD burner so I can finally take a bit of control over my videotape collection, which is pretty unwieldy right now.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Storm

Oh, I found some info on Daylight Saving Time . It was too boring for me to finish reading, though  :P

In that case, why did you buy a VCR-combo, since you alrady had two VCR's?

Storm, my previous reply to you was lost in an Internal Server error and it's now too late to retype. I'll get back to you on DST during the coming week.

Er, sorry, I forgot to mention that one of the two VCRs I brought with me eventually ceased to function properly any longer. It is now a very ugly paperweight on top of our towel cabinet.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

Darn. I suppose if you were a true techie you could replace all its parts manually and not bother getting a new VCR... ;)

Heh. Yeah, my forte is more software, and even that gives me headaches on a regular basis.

I wouldn't mind getting a nice four-head VCR, anyway. Two-heads are fine for recording, but a bit iffy in playback.

Aye, but given the price of VCR's nowadays, wouldn't that have cost more?
