I'm lousy at checkers but good at tic-tac-toe... what does that make me? Never heard of Hexic, though.

I'm great at tic-tac-toe. I could alway win or at least force a tie when I got the first move. If not, I could still force a tie.
I don't play much checkers though, and never heard of hexic  8)

Hee. Well, I did play checkers quite frequently with my father as a child, but he always won. Come to think of it, he always won in pretty much every game we played. I still remember the time we were playing Monopoly, and I had him down to $1, and a couple non-mortgaged properties, and he came back and kicked my butt.

No, unfortunately. Looks like a neat game, but I've never been friends with anyone who would want to play that sort of game. Although considering my crappy planning-ahead skills, I'd probably get my butt kicked anyway. (laughs)

haha well I do admits its super fun, and addictive! :P
I do remember when I used to play it with my brother and his friends, wtf they were like all in their lates 20's (28 and such) and I was a little kiddo of like 18 years old hahaha :D, wtf I got my ass beated up baaaadly, and more than once!! but it was super fun anyways :), and I dont believe its like that much different from monopoly or other table games actually, I mean yeah it requires planning but most of the times its just about luck too! :P

But Yonkey isn't that great at Tic-Tac-Toe, Checkers or Hexic.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Heheh, I haven't played those games in years!  It took me a while to figure out wtf to do in Hexic.  As for Checkers, I made it much farther than I expected. :P  Tic-Tac-Toe isn't fun when the person you're playing against memorized the spots where you can win two ways.   ;D

Oh, and I noticed you forgot to mention that I kicked your ass in Bejewelled.   :suffer:  8)

I played Risk a few years ago, it was fun but it is pretty much a game of luck more than strategy.  It's a long game too!   :o

I used to play Monopoly when I was little too, but I'd always lose to my sister and older people who would buy all the good properties!  Again, it can become a really long game too.  I think one time we played it over the course of two days hahahah.  :)

I liked Stratego more than Risk, partly cuz it's all laid out on one board. ::) Plus it's fun to hide the bombs in unpredictable spots. ;D

Monopoly is great.  Watching the expression on your poor victims face when they land on your Mayfair with hotel square and go bankrupt! (Mayfair, I think is what you call Park Place?  I never was familiar with your Monopoly).  We also have a Monopoly based on our county, Devon.  My town is in there :D

Quote from: The Knight on November 17, 2003, 02:34:36 PMI'm also deadly at Monopoly.  Too bad we can't play them via MSN.  But I do have Monopoly for the computer.  ;)

Well, I know some computerized Monopoly games offer multiplayer connection possibilities. Of course, there is the small fact that all players need to own the game...

IMHO, what they really need is to make a good online version of Scorched Earth. That would completely rock.

Quote from: The Knight on November 17, 2003, 02:34:36 PMHow about a game of Chess?  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

QuoteJoshua: Shall we play a game?
David Lightman: Oh!
Jennifer: I think it missed him.
David Lightman: Yeah. Weird isn't it? Love to. How about Global Thermonuclear War.
Joshua: Wouldn't you perfer a nice game of chess?
David Lightman: Later. Right now lets play Global Thermonuclear War.
Joshua: Fine.

And my fave:

Quote(After playing out all possible outcomes for Global Thermonuclear War)
Joshua: Greetings, Professor Falken.
Stephen Falken: Hello, Joshua.
Joshua: A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

Sorry, it just sprung to mind.

I'm also reminded of WarGames whenever tic-tac-toe comes up... but you CAN win tic-tac-toe, can't you?  ;)

QuoteStephen Falken: Except, that I never could get Joshua to learn the most important lesson.
David Lightman: What's that?
Stephen Falken: Futility. That there's a time when you should just give up.
Jennifer: What kind of a lesson is that?
Stephen Falken: Did you ever play tic-tac-toe?
Jennifer: Yeah, of course.
Stephen Falken: But you don't anymore.
Jennifer: No.
Stephen Falken: Why?
Jennifer: Because it's a boring game. It's always a tie.
Stephen Falken: Exactly. There's no way to win. The game itself is pointless!

Heh. ;) Good flick. Maybe a little stereotypical in the realism department, but I think the underlying philosophy still has some relevance today. Of course, if you're interested in just a "pure" hacking romp, you can't go wrong with "Sneakers", IMHO.

Storm

It's true - tic-tac-toe is pointless. Once you know how, you can alway force a tie, and the only way to win is to play someone who doesn't know "the system"  :P

No wonder he wanted me to play so badly!  :P  ;)

Oldbushie

Have you played 4x4 or 5x5 tic-tac-toe and won all the time in those? Or is ti just 3x3 that you excel in? ;)
