I've beat plenty of people who know the system.
Obviously, they didn't implement it very well  :P

Well, if they didn't know "the counters" themselves you can hardly say they know "the system"  8)

Two equal players playing tic-tac-toe will always tie, no matter which one starts.  If one wins, that means the other one is simply not as good as he/she claims to be. Two equal players = tie.

Chess-related: XDFritz3, the latest chess computer, also tied      with Kasparov. Sure, they both won one party and tied the other two, but overall, they tied. A (chess-)computer is only as good as the ones who programmed him/it, and they are human. In fact, the chess-computer is lots of humans, and yet it still can't win against one human. So, a computer, playing tic-tac-toe against himself, always constitutes two equal players, thus it's always a tie.

Monopoly is a lot about luck, and 'Lady Luck' has yet to find me, so whatever I do, I (almost, sometimes luck even abandones the other players so it's even) always lose. :( Stratego is not about luck, so I won a bit more playing that game. Risk has been too long, I don't remember how I did. I know the game though. 8)

Does "the system" work with 3D tic tac toe as well?

Never tried that. Nor bigger boards for that matter  :-X

I've never even tried tic-tac-toe myself. Not very popular overhere.

So, in 3d tic-tac-toe, the possiblities to make 3 in a row would be multiplied, right? Hmmm, looks like Sir Dot-a-lot will have to revise his strategy for those ones. :D

Yeah, I used to have the DOS version of it years ago (around KQ5 or somethin), but I'm sure if you search the net you could find one.

Instead of a 3x3 grid, it's 3x3x3 and definitely requires more skill because you have to watch vertically as well as horizontally.   ;D

Nah... if we had too much free time, we'd learn how to play 3D chess a la Star Trek. (You can buy boards for that actually, if you don't mind spending a few appendages, although I don't think there's currently any set of "official" rules for it.)

If I had too much free time I'd be on the 2nd position of the top15-posters, and not the 4th. ;D (Why second? Simple, because Say has waaay too much free time so I'll never be able to pass her.)

I'm guessing the same rules as those for normal chess apply, it's just the figures that'll be looking different. Besides, I can't even play normal chess very well, I know how every piece moves, but that's about it. So I imagine 3D chess a la Star Trek'll be even worse, because as soon as a piece has been moved from its starting position, a few times, I won't remember which one it corresponds to on a normal chess board.

Oh... beautiful!, I've been involved in this team since february of 2002, and I dont believe you couldnt achieve second place either since storm already has it even when she is not currently as commited as many of the current posters.

I own the 3D chess set and yes, there are official rules that come with it.  You CAN play it.  I love my chess set - well, I love looking at it, I can never get anyone to play with me.  I've read the rules and they seem pretty straightforward - hey, anyone want to play sometime?  ;D

I bet you could talk my roomie into playing, Mikey... he's good at chess, and a Star Trek nut, to boot. (Which is why/how we met, actually. :suffer: ) I would play, but I'm lousy enough at regular chess as it is. ;)

I could have done posting spree's too, if it weren't for my lack of time.

I could have gone on a posting spree, if I had the knack for making lots of short, pointless posts  ;)

But hey, look at this one... I'm learning  :P

The chess set I have is from the original Star Trek series, although I believe they played it on TNG as well.

Now if they came out with a Farscape chess set, I'd be so THERE!  That's my favorite Sci-Fi series of all time.  I'm so sad it got prematurely cancelled (and what a horrible cliff-hanger to leave the fans with - ugh!)

Indeed, it's obvious they would have been resurrected at the start of the next series, since they were being 'neutralized' to be questioned later, but I too was devastated when I heard about the fact the series was cancelled. :'(

Then you should look at the posts I was making when I just started on this board... hardly a one-liner in the bunch  ::)
