O.A.R. Hmmmm haven't heard of them, I'll have to check em out!

Well I've just got back from ANOTHER gig and this was really quite good too! There were four bands on, one of them being my mates boyfriends band called Second Sun rising. The first act was trying so hard to be rock yet you could tell they were suited more to pop, still sounded quite decent.

Second Sun Rising on the other hand were really great. I don't quite know who to compare them too as it was so new and fresh, not like the recent crap thats been on the radio (GO AWAY LOST PROPHITS PLEASE!!!! (no offence to lost prophits fans but UK radio stations have a habit of killing songs by way overplaying them))

The next one was called "Progress" I think and they were really quite good too but alot more technical than the previous two with various synths and controllers along with the guitars and drums etc. The only thing was the main singer had a major attitude problem and I suspect he was drunk (possibly due to him drinking three cans of larger throughout the performance). That kinda ruined it for me.

The last act alas I didnt have time to see due to the last train leaving town at 11:30. Ah well still a quite good night but dont expect to hear any of these bands on a radio near you any time soon as theyre all unpolluted by the industry (Or rather, not yet signed to multi million record deals :D)

One of our local radio stations was giving away tickets too, but I never win those things. And I'm broke. Wah. Western MA finally has something cool happen, and I didn't get to go. Blah.

Mmmm another new album has just landed on my doorstep. I hope and pray that at least one person here as heard of Zero 7. Well anyway their new album as just come out and its pretty much in the style of the first album without the emphasis on orchestrated strings and the like. Very nice although I was expecting a little evolution. Still the tracks featuring Sia Furler are always a highlight, ( check out her website you cna listen to the whole album here http://www.siamusic.net/home/?truehome=true ) and the usual laid back jazzy style gets you sooo relaxed and sleepy. Buy buy buy, if you want to that is.

Unless you wanna hear some Auf Der Maur (which is also really good) then keep clicking forward till you get to around the 40 minute mark. It's all live btw :)

The Slick Shoes, Ten Foot Pole, Antifreeze, A Switchblade Affair are awesome live. Other good bands: The Ataris, Useless ID, The Used, Finch, Matchbook Romance, Midtown, The Alkaline Trio, Seether, Three Doors Down, Our Lady Peace, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, Three Days Grace, Switchfoot, No Use For a Name, Motion City Soundtrack, Local H, and of course: NIRVANA!

Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light

I have to stick to Led Zepplin. They're all I need.  8)

I like listening to the "Only Time" song before an exam.  Heh, now that I think of it, every exam I did that for, I did well on...  :o  XD

I love comatose music, though there's some good techno out there that I like. And mixtures of classical music with hard rock overtones is always interesting. ;)

Enya is awesome!! ;B

I haven't heard much Enya, but what I have heard was well enough to listen to.

Recently-ish Harrison got into listening to Bjork CDs, and I must say I'm rather fond of her quirky style. :)

ah, the music taste thread

:)

Well, as probably everybody that knows me a little bit know, I'm a number one fan of MARILLION (band from the UK). As a matter of fact, they are releasing a new CD in 3 weeks and I just CAN'T WAIT. The year of Marbles.

If they come to the US (they haven't been here in 5 years), you can swear I'm touring with them! for a month! lol

But I do listen to other stuff: Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Genesis.... Tori Amos is a goddess. Mathhews Good Band I like a lot, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, U2, IQ, Arena, and I could keep naming bands, but they are pretty obscure and totally non-commercial, so you've probably never heard of them.

Needless to say, I never listen to the Radio. :)

I also enjoy soundtracks a lot. The score kind of soundtracks. I must admit Evanescense is really good. One of the only things that I've heard from the later years that IMHO, are worthy to listen to.

You can't leave for a month  >:(. We won't let you.  You must keep working on KQ9.

You can't leave because then we'd have to rely on the 'others' to divulge parts of plot information and they're much better at keeping everything to themselves than you. :suffer:

Good good someone else with taste here I see. If you want to hear something that'll make you either cry or cringe, try to listen to pluto by Bjork. Yummy. Also you have to listen to So Broken, I don't think it was on her latest Album (Vespertine) but it was a B side to a single from it so it may be on Kazaa or some other P2P thing. Oh and if Harrison really gets into Bjork tell him to buy the Live Box set, its superb and lets you hear some of the songs in totally new way (I go humble coming to mind mmmmmm) Ahg to much to say, I'll stop now  ;B

ONE MORE THING... Joy Zipper have become my new band of the month now so all hail them.
