How do you like your adventures served up?

1st Person
3rd Person
Mixture of both
...Text?

Drunken Chinchilla

Strangely enough I think I'm in the 1st person camp here. The reasoning being that as graphics are getting so scarily real now I think with the right camera work and movements a 1st person view could be alot more immersive than anything thats come before it.

Thoughts and opinions my adventure buddies?

3rd person for me... I find 1st person adventure games harder to navigate and find my way around.

Yonkey

Hmm, I'd have to say 3rd person.  I like seeing the character interact with the environment and other people. ;D

Shades2585

Third person myself and like Yonkey said I like seeing the characters interact.
Knight of Queen Deloria since 24-Jul-06 ;D
Duke of Lancaster of Queen Deloria since 09-Sept-06
Bestowed "Captain of Calais" on 08-Nov-06

Bestowed Kingdom of Bohemia by Queen Deloria on 06-Jan-07

Does anybody even remember who Wormy is?

I guess a mixture might be cool, now that I think about it... if you were able to use the mouse wheel to get closer or further away from the character in WoW. I do like that because than I can do both: keep it in third person most of the time to easily navigate, but got to first person when I want to see what it would look like if I was actually there.

icarus

where's the option 2nd person?  :P
Playing the game from the view of one of the NPC's.

Mostly I prefer 3rd person....but the three "interactive movie" Tex Murphy games did first person really well. You'd explore the room in *EDIT:* FIRST person(I dunno why I typed that wrong to begin with) and when you picked certain things up or did a puzzle correctly, it would switch to a cutscene where you'd watch Tex do  whatever it was that the puzzle was. It was pretty cool.

Wow thats actually a really cool idea! Imagine if it were some kind of posessing game where you saw the main story happenin thorugh millions of NPCs. Not only people bit bugs and animals and you had to try to influence the path by any way possible...gnarly!

Pop!

My current favorite bands:
Jack Johnson, Arctic Monkeys, My Chemical Romance, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Panic at the Disco, Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Vampire Weekend

i think that mist did 1st person real well but my 1st love is still KQ ;D
- In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo – Leonardo Da Vinci, and the Renaissance...In Switzerland, they had brotherly love.   They had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce?  ...The cuckoo clock.

Deloria

3rd person, but I do recall playing most of MoE in first person instead.

Holy Roman Empress
Queen of *all* Albion

I like playing in first person, as it makes it feel as if you were really there. But for something like KQ, I'd say third person. After all, it is very hard to go though everything the royal family did in first person. (For instance, how would you know that you had turned into a troll? There would have to have some sort of preset character for mirrors and such to reflect and image back.)

A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king

Mixture of both
some games are easier 3rd person and other work better 1st person
It all depends on the type of game.

That would be cool, seeing the games from their point of view, if rather unpractical. :P

Dying would be more personal... maybe it'd cut down on the intentional death rates in KQ. Then again, maybe not. :P

PirateKingChris

Oh heck yes it would. I wouldn't get to see my character spinning through the air to his death at the bottom of a long staircase if it was first person...and I'm easily amused by character death, so call me twisted :P

For me it depends on the game.I like both, but there is a time and place for each. Thy both have advantages and limitations and I think that games with both enhance the gameplay.
