KQVII Query

Yeah, it's me!  I'm sorry I keep popping up and disappearing.  I swear my attention span is just dead, haha.  But anyway, a question, if you please.  With regards to King's Quest 7 (the new Collection version).

I was playing through this game and am currently in Chapter 4.  Rosella has just gotten into Malicia's house, and found the device in her drawer.  I make her put everything back, make sure the drawer is shut, and leave through the floorboard.

Which should work, right?  Well, every time I get out there, Malicia shows up and zaps me.  Is there something I'm doing wrong, or have I chanced upon a glitch meaning I'd have to start over?  Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It's been ages since I played KQVII, so I just checked a walkthrough.  You're supposed to take something else from Malacia's house before you leave...

Since you're not picking it up, Malicia is killing you to prevent a dead-end from eventually occuring.

I picked up the Mysterious Device from the drawer, picked up the clothes off the floor, and collected the stocking from the floor when it dropped..  According to the walkthrough, is there something else that I've missed?

I thought I'd remembered the game quite well..  But I must have missed something, surely?

Hmm, well the walkthrough I read said "sock", but I think that may be the same as the stocking.

When Malicia leaves, come out of the floor and open her drawers. Keep clicking on the drawers as Rosella pulls out her clothes one by one. When she finally gets the strange device, click on the clothing to put it away. Now click the sock to take it. Now exit the way you came. Put the cloak back on by clicking it.

Ohh..  That's what I did and she still shows up.  I'll look at it again, but if not, I'll have to start it over.
