Hasnt this thread type been around about 20 times over the duration of KQ9's existance?  ::)

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

This site has been around 20 times over...we've been around 20 times over...and I'm sure we'll be 20 times under shortly
It's peanut butter jelly time!

Drunken Chinchilla

hehe ancient thread!

I think my most favourite is probably Laura Bow. The first one just had so much to do and find out for its time. I must have played through at least 5 times and still now I've never gained "Super Sleuth". And there was that weird stature that zooooomed accross the horizon which I could NEVER get to repeat when I wanted it to :(

The second one unfortunately didn't like my computer too well and I only got up to the guy who was killed with a porcupine (GENIUS!).

Jump In Well

I'm gonna go with Monkey Island on this one, especially on the first one when they made a joke about the old sierra games where Guybrush would fall off a cliff and it'd say thank you for playing monkey island (or something like that) i hope you saved! and guybrush flies back up on the cliff and says, "Rubber tree," XD

>Jump In Well :D

Yonkey

Hahaha!  Yeah, Monkey Island was a really fun game to play.  The creators had a really good sense of humour.  ;D

Does a sequel make it a series? If so, I would say 'The Longest Journey' is one of my favourites, with it's continuing (this autumn) in 'Dreamfall' (http://www.dreamfall.com).

Yonkey

Sure! :D

Welcome Mukki, and congratulations on being our 700th member! XD

My favorite series got to be:

Leisure Suit Larry, just utter hilarious. ;D

Monkey Island, great puzzles and great humour.

Spellcasting, a great series from Legend. :)
Beware the Lazy Invasion of the Lonely Mudcrab of Doom!

Elessar

  • King's Quest 8)
  • Myst
  • Dragon Warrior, which is like final fantasy, (and also started on the NES) but is waaaaay better! ;D

I'd have to say the Gabriel Knight games are easily my favorite. 3 very fine, high-quality games, plus they have unique characters, mostly-logical puzzles, and a great psychological horror atmosphere.

Agreed three VERY Awesome games, I mean thats one of the few games where I would feel emotinaly involved with the characters and such.

The Monkey Island games are my next fave. Fun, colorful characters and settings, and more witty humor than you can shake a rubber-chicken-with-a pulley-in-the-middle at.

This wasn't mine, I mean I guess Guygrush is smart but who can respect a hero who states just beforing leaving his training island that he no longer needs a sword to be a pirate???? I mean he spent all that time practicing sword fighting and then just dumps it?

As for King's Quest... I smell a lynching coming on with this, but, oh well. I like the KQ *universe*. I think there's a lot of intriguing characters, relationships, situations, lands, and whatnot to play with. But for the most part, I feel the games, while fun, never completely touched on the full potential of all of it. There's a lot of stuff they could have had fun with exploring in-depth, but it either got glossed over or tossed out, I feel, in the need to keep things "family-friendly". (sigh) It's like Roberta created this whole great world, then had absolutely no idea what to really do with it. No wonder it took a fanfic to get me to give the series another chance. :P

Yeah I have to agree with you the first two didn't have as much in deepth as the later ones do. Clearly KQ8 is evident of this though I mean... what was she thinking? The AGDI KQ2 was sooooooo much better then Sierra's so much more story and foreshadowing was done that I can't play the original kq2 now lol.

  • King's Quest 8)
  • Myst

I never understood Myst. My mom got me one game and though the graphics were cool, I couldn't figure out a thing. It scared me...

Yeah, I'll admit that at first Myst did scare me, but Myst and Riven (the sequel) are some of the best games I ever played. Why not give them another go?

Judging by the state of my room the cd is probably never to be seen again. XD But I'll look for it.

King's Quest and Space Quest for me!  (I have yet to play KQ3, SQ4 or SQ5 all the way, though.)

I really need to play more commercial adventure games.
