Having summers off is nice, I have to say. XD

And...I think I cried three times.

Also, my mom and I found a bit of a mistake in the book. Finish it to hear our thoughts. :P

Oy. I got mine at 9:30 am, got home round 11 to start reading, and I've only just started chapter 7! I'm reading incredibly slow on purpose, with breaks too (one long one from 1:30 to 6 or so when I slept, having only slept last "night" from 5:30 AM to 8:45 AM) Anywho, I dont plan to read it till I'm through, like alot of folks do, which is rather annoying since everyone and their grandmother is flying through it to get done and will try to talk to me about it before I'm finished. You're all poops. :P

OMG, I'm only on chapter ten and I already love this book. It makes me cry and then laugh and then cry again.

And not really a spoiler, but just in case:
And I am absolutely amazed by J.K. Rowling, in how she takes the tiniest details from the previous books and makes them so important in this one.
I haven't had to modify anyone's posts yet, BUT just in case no one knows. To make something you type go into the spoiler box, just type out [*spoiler]insert text here[/*spoiler]...without the asterisks :)

*collapses* I just finished it. It is absolutely AMAZING, and I think it's the best of the series! Read it if you aren't doing so already!

And now, to bed.

tessspoon

Just finished it. I don't think it's quite sunk in though... but it was, as HCN said, AMAZING. Definitely my favorite of the series.

WARNING!!! MY REVIEW WILL HAVE SPOILERS LADEN THROUGHOUT IT BUT I WILL USE TAGS!
Do not read until you have finished the book.
Just finished the book, and my last Tim Tam. One word: AMAZING!!! Oh my god, I loved it.
I counted between 15-20 deaths, around 5-7 being main characters. I hated that they killed Dobby, Tonks and Lupin, especially after they had their son, but I was SOOO relieved that Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, Luna, McGonagal, and Hagrid lived.
I can't think of anything that wasn't answered and I really only have two things that bothered me.
Hedwig died, I found this death unnecessary. But it also showed the seriousness of this book. Secondly, I thought that the final battle between Harry and Voldemert was incredibly short and, after the 4th book, really expected more.
I got SO INCREDIBLY PUMPED
Once Harry was inside Hogwarts, for the last 150 pages, and now, I'm still pumped, I feel all woozie. (Although that could be because I spent almost all day yesterday and today reading it..XD)
Also, I LOVED the epilogue, it was perfect!

I thought the epilogue was ok, there's a lot that I would have liked to know, like:
What do all the characters do now? Did Harry become an auror? How did everyone cope with what happened? What happened to George and Hagrid and all the Death Eaters?
And I loved chapter 33,
about Snape, I'm so glad he turned out to be good
And does anyone know (about the end of the book)
Who the character was who finally managed to use magic at a great age? And did Neville use the Gryffindor sword to kill Nagini, cause if he did, how did he get it? ???
I don't think it was a character who used it at a great age, I thought that it said that "a character would perform great magic in a dangerous situation". (Don't read this until you're finished with the first three chapters.) In that case it was
Harry on Hagrid's bike.
And to answer the second part, (Don't read this until you are finished with the last chapter before the epilogue.)
Yes the sword was Gryffindor's he pulled it out of the sorting hat just like Harry did in CoS.
And Rosella, what did you and your mom find?

(Sorry, my spoilers are from chapters 1 through 36. That's pretty much the entire book, minus the epilogue.)
I think I counted 21 or 22 deaths (I'm not really sure about Dolohov because he simply "fell"). That's a LOT of deaths! :( I too am glad that the main main characters didn't die, and am especially relieved that both Neville and Luna survived because otherwise that would've kill me. I was saddest when Dobby and Collin died.. they were so innocent! :'(
Also...
It was glad that Snape turned out to be good, Dudley showed his gratitude toward Harry at last, Ron got over his inner demons, Percy finally redeemed himself, and Malfoys left the Death Eaters in the end. Stuff like that makes me so happy! :smitten:
In which I stop reading this thread until I'm done I guess. I did not look at any of the spoilers of the people who just read it. It just causes one to scratch one's head and not bother reading this again when posts are basically nothing BUT spoiler things, when you haven't finished. Heh.

Spoiler About chapter 23
I was looking through a book about what might happen in book 7, and they had a list of the characters arranged from least likely to die to most. And at the top of the list was Dobby:

"Dobby is cute (after a fashion), lovable, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the war against Voldemort. He's practically guaranteed to make it through." XD

I think they were a little of the mark on that one, poor Dobby.
Pacman928
jkr said only 8 people would die.  so i picked the more obvious ones that were noteably mentioned. dobby, mad eye, tonks, lupin, crabbe, voldemort, snape, and george/fred, whichever of them it is that died
and also
the most upsetting deaths to me were dobby and harry, even though he didn't really "die".  dobby's as sad and i nearly cried on harry's. (mostly cause i stopped right after he died to go to church)  and the funniest part of the book is what mrs weasly said right before she got into the fight with bellatrix
Rosella

Yeah, yeah. ::)

So, here's my mom's and my question.
Teddy was born during the book and the epilogue is 19 years later. WHAT is he doing making out on the Hogwarts train? :P
Personally, I loved
That Percy was still the same old Percy at the end. XD I mean, he was like "Yes! I'm a pompous git, now let me help!" and then he's still talking about broomstick regulations. Love it. :P I also love how Neville got to shine. I have a soft spot for him.
Literally thirty seconds after I read that, Rebecca came over having just finished and asked the same thing. :P That is a good question though. ???

Rosella

Ooh! Another thing I liked
How much the Malfoys were part of Voldemort's downfall. I mean, Narcissa was almost likable. :P
