About to start My Sister's Keeper.  It was recommended to me by a co worker two years ago and I'm just now getting it.  Like I said before, I'm a little behind the times.

I am currently in the middle of The Return of the King.

Quote from: Delling on August 09, 2009, 09:10:48 AMTill We Have Faces ...because it's awesome and I'm reading it for inspiration for something I'm writing... as well as a couple other books that my cousin lent or gave me on a book by book basis :P

C. S. Lewis did a rather remarkable job in changing the original myth into that book's story. It's been a while since I've read it, but it was quite an engaging read.

What sort of writing are you doing? A book perchance?
All that is gold does not glitter
Not all who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not touched by the frost

From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king

I love CS Lewis.  He's my hero.  I have a lamp post tattoo in celebration of the Narnia books.  :)

I finished Till We Have Faces, did The Great Divorce, need to finish The Odyssey, and start reading The Aeneid (for a class... but it annoys me because they're translations :-\)... I've actually forgotten what's on it, but I think I had another list of books to be reading too.

Are those the ones about the detective who is terrible at her job?  My friend told me about those and I always get confused between the Cat Who series and the Hot Six, Lucky Seven, etc. series.

No, these are the ones about a guy named Qwilleran and his two cats, Koko and Yum Yum. Koko actually helps solve the crimes. Great books!

...Those cat names sound eerily familiar, Cat. :P

I'm reading The Lost Symbol, the new Dan Brown novel. I'm not that far into it, but it seems cool so far. :D

I tried The Da Vinci Code and simply could not get into it.  I read it off and on for a month, and finally just let it die.  I just wasn't enthralled.  Let us know how The Lost Symbol is.  Isn't Langdon the protagonist in that one?

Langdon's still the protagonist. Typically, I have a lot of trouble reading books that I can't follow, and The Da Vinci Code falls into that category, but I was so into it that I finished it in about a day. XD As far as I can tell, the books are very, very similar.
