I would love to audition as well :D Sounds like fun!

atec123

we are postponing audidions :'(  sorry, we will need more lines and stuff before we do them.  if you already sent one, it will still be considered, but others should not be sent.

sorry :'(

I think it's good that you're holding off on the auditions. Wait until you have the game nearing completion before jumping into the voice acting. I think it's more important to get the game done than it is to have voices added to it. But that's just me...

If need be, you can always release a voice pack separately. That's what the KQ3 remake from Infamous Adventures did. They released the game, and then a little while later released a voice pack. So did AGDI.

maybe, it depends on how long it takes to develop the game on it's own.

Well a voice pack I wouldn't imagine would take a terribly long time to make, and you can begin work on it after the project is all done and out...

I would suggest you hold on the voice files until get towards the end of of your production... That way if your scripts change you don't have to track down the person again or recast it.

I have to agree with that. Speaking from my (rather bitter) experience, a fan project that starts auditioning for voice cast before it has a finalized script or even a solid idea of what the plot would look like, will never get past the drawing board stage.
Apart from being the wrong thing to do from a practical standpoint, it also shows a fundamentally flawed understanding of the development process, and the amount of effort involved in making a game.

Exactly, I cancelled the voice auditioning until much later.  I am currently writing out story/plot, I might need some writers once I have a good start.  And then, when I get into the development more, I need a suffer smile! :suffer:

Wise decision 8)

I didn't vote on the plot poll, but I think remaking MOE with the same plot would be a wasted effort. It's not like MOE is an old game that needs a remake with better graphics/sound/interface, so a plot change is pretty much the only thing that justifies bothering with one ;P

I also think you should follow the lines of Roberta's vision for MOE, especially the idea of Connor being a marble statue which has been brought to life. It might prevent some of the antagonism caused by Connor's being a commoner and not one of the royal family.
Oh, and no fights please. Why make the same mistake twice? ::)

I have a writer for the plot.  I want to show everyone something I wrote with her help:

QuoteIn King's Quest VIII, you will play as a new character, Connor Mac Lyrr. Conner is a human, but hasn't always been. He was brave knight, and when he passed away, a statue was made of him, and then some form of evil magic brought him back to life from the statue. While the spell brought him to life, it turned many other people in Daventry to stone. However, a very powerful wizard was able to rescue some people in the kingdom. The evil magic came from Lucreto, when he smashed a powerful, magical treasure, the Mask Of Eternity. You, as Connor must find the Mask pieces, as they have been scattered everywhere. As Connor, the former knight of Daventry, you must bring the pieces back to the Mask's temple, and defeat Lucreto.

What does it say about Connor that he's more likeable as a marble statue than as a random guy from Daventry? :P

We sure didn;t call him this stupid, hated, random dude that found a piece of the mask did we?  I think he is more likeable as a brave knight, that then came back to life, don't you?

Actually, it sounds a lot like an excerpt from that interview Roberta Williams gave about MOE before it was released.
Personally I'd lose the bit about Connor being a resurrected dead knight. IMO it's less creepy and more interesting plot-wise to just have him as statue brought to life, plus it gives you more depth and character development - instead of the cookie-cutter good guy hero trying to save the world, you get a more complex, inexperienced character who is new to the world and has much to learn about it in order to save it.

Huh, I will think about that one.  And I made that with my own words, and then some help from snophira, the new writer..

I don't think Storm was suggesting that you had copied it from Roberta's interiew, atec123. She was just pointing out that the plot details are nearly identical (which is a good thing, since Roberta is such a creative genius :D).

When I read this the other day, it prompted me to read that interview. It sounded like Roberta was actually pretty excited about the new format. It sounds like it ended up being a too-many-cooks problem when Roberta lost creative control after she and Ken sold Sierra.
