Yeah, I feel like I should be using my basic algebra here or something. Of course, all of my pre-crash posts were lost in the crash itself (since I joined in August, yes, you've been putting up with me for 5 months, muahahaha!!!), so the point is pretty moot to me. ;D

Those numbers still seem off to me... my pre-crash count is 733, but we had the whole "race for the Powerful Wizard title" a little while before the crash, and as far as I can recall I got the title but didn't make that many posts after that - I don't believe I even passed 1000. That would mean I lost even less than 300 posts... could I have been posting so little? a mere 100 posts a month? :-\
However, that's not counting the lost posts from the YaBB CGI board... now that's definately 1500  ;D

Oldbushie -
How come your pre-crash be only 422? weren't you the one to beat me on that "race for Powerful Wizard" we had back then? It's hard to believe I made only 17 posts in the time it took you to make 228  ???

I posted a LOT at one point, I went kinda crazy. ;D

With all due respect to your posting sphree, the only way *I* post so little was if I were dead  :o  ;)  Your 228 to my 17? I think even the great Say would have a hard time pulling that off if I were conscious  :suffer:
Nevermind - Yonkey cleared that up for me. My REAL pre-crash count was 426, all the rest were post from the old YaBB board Yonkey added AFTER the crash. Now that's a number I could live with  ;D

I listed your posts... It was 845 (not including the boardnation temp forum), of which 580 made after Dec 25. So, 845 - 580 = 265 and that should be your pre-crash count  :)
265+270=535, yes, that could have been my starting number at this forum.
Thank you so much. Don't let Jeysie see this, but :-*.
Anyway, there's definitely missing posts because you see, I distinctly remember being a Great Oracle when it all went down, and Dragon and Mango followed suit short after me. After that, I didn't make too many new posts, so Mango and Dragon passed me. Now Oracles start at 501, do they not? So, if I had 270 posts at the Boardnation forum, I should at least have had 771 posts when I started back here, thus being a Powerful Wizard (starting at 751). I'm guessing my estimate of 200 posts lost is pretty accurate then, maybe even a bit too low. Didn't have too many posts on the old Yabb board, so I don't mind what's done with those. I still don't get the pre-crash count thing. Which crash are we talking about? :-\

I think the pre-crash count is the number of posts u had upto June 27th, 2003.  The confusion is that the vBulletin forums never had the YaBB posts in there.

The pre-crash count at vBulletin forum only had posts from February 8, 2003 - June 27, 2003.

So, I made Great oracle-ness on vBulletin posts exclusively then. No confusion there. What is confusing is that if those are the vBulletin exclusive post-counts, they are way too low.

Was that the date after which 'we' were using Boardnation as a temp forum?

That date was way before.  Boardnation = September 29, 2003 - October 26, 2003  :)

Now I'll go check out the CGI YaBB board and try to calculate how many posts I lost there  ;)

Storm

That turned out to be about a 120... back then I was only making QUALITY posts  :P

Since I couldn't remember my post count at the time of the crash, I estimated it according to the the time between the backup and the new boards.
I made 306 posts from the time I joined the forum, on 20.8.2002, till the last CGI YaBB backup before the forum crashed, at 11.12.2002 - ~4 months. According to the this, my average for 1 month was ~75 posts.

The vBulletin boards went online at 8.2.2003 - that's a ~2 months gap, and minus the ~1 week the forum was down, I came up with ~1.5 months of lost posts, which, considering my average back then, translates to ~120 posts. Confusing enough for everyone?  ;)

As a moderator, aren't you supposed to be the one to STOP people from senseless posting sphrees, rather than encourage them?  :o

There's always a small percentage of those posts useful, sometimes... ;D
Anyway, if anyone wants to waste their time doing useless posts on this messageboard, who are we to stop them? Oh, I'd just like to warn you: work is at the verge (?sp) of swamping me, so my visits to this board are going to be scarce the next few weeks, and probably concentrated in the weekends (Friday evening most probably).
So, when can we expect the (manual) post-upping? :P
