I can think of two explanations...

1. Storm is being the Sandman, albeit with a bit more sand than is usually given. XD

2. Storm wants you to stick your head in the sand like an ostrich.

Why's everyone complicating Storm's post?

Jeysie

B'rrr is the one who complicated Storm's post. I was just explaining the sand comment.

Wow, I've got people interpreting me now ;D

B'rrr

was it a good interpretation??  ::)

There is no good or bad interpretion... it's all in the eye of the beholder. Once the words have left my keyboard they are no longer mine, they belong to the world and to eternity. Each can decipher them as they may, and I have no right to intervene :P

B'rrr

well there must be a right interpretation....

I see several options which would appear as very bold from the casual visitor's point of view.  ;D

Point 6 seems to take the cake. Would Phoenix just sit by without any objections if someone tried to make a sequel to your game & story and attempt to sell it? Seeing that I already noticed someone mentioning discomfort with the notion that you'd partly lose control to Sierra if an official connection were to be established (you wouln't partly lose control, you'd lose complete control, btw. They would own all of it. Ask Jane Jensen or the Coles if they co-own or control their series), I think you'd object. Because of that, I guess nobody would be surprised if Sierra would not condone that.

Seeing that you added option 2 and 3, the conspiracy theorist in me wakes up and wonders if you're secretly in contact with Sierra's legal reps or if this is just "wishful thinking". :)

An interesting thing is that you added option 4 as "shut down", rather than "radical overhaul to remove any similarity to the KQ series in this project". Seeing how much has been done already, that option may be more feasable than a complete shutdown, were Sierra to issue a cease&desist letter to your team. Or is that option no longer viable because lines with character names were already recorded? This could be option #7, which I'd probably pick if Sierra were to object.

I'm tempted to vote #1, because I see it as the only realistic option of them all. I don't see non-profit teams paying royalties...it's not peanuts we're talking about. It's sums of money that'd be able to buy each of us a nice little cottage at the Bahamas.

EDIT: Sorry, I only just realized this poll is very old and got bumped only recently.

Shadowfax

Blimey! an interesting list here isn't it?

Well, I say No° 1 is the best option. Obviously as this is a fan remake in honour of the KQ series then I do not see why it should be closed down voluntarily just because they did it first (if a letter is sent by Sierra then a complete re-engineering program will have to be initiated to make the game side-step Sierra's demands. As for the line re-recording, that will may have to be abandoned if financial constraints prevent re-overhaul of the lines.)

BTW, good points Erpy!
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.
