Well I'd call Silent Hill like a horror/action game.....Uh, I forget the name of what Spyro would be....It's kinda in the same category as old Mario games which I'd call a scroller, but uh...since Spyro is 3D levels I dunno.

They call it a platformer on wikipedia.

It's a fantasy platformer.  That's what I'm calling it.  That's basically what it is, a bit of both.

...My dad loved playing the game with my brother and me almost every night (until we got stuck, then the playing would cease from time to time).  Upon (or near) the end of the game my dad kinda realized that there were parts of the story that were probably in the other games (i.e. Edgar) so my dad got the collection set with 1-6 and thus the gameplaying resumed.
Basically we still have our quotes that we remember and use for no reason, and honestly it's the majority of the reason why I can't wait for TSL.  ;D
That sounds like my family.  We used to always play at night, after school and work, and always about an hour before bedtime.  I remember specifically standing next to the old computer desk while the witch was pacing by her cooking pot (in KQ1), gripping my dad's hand while my older sister reassured me that "it's okay, it's only a game!"  :suffer:

My earliest memories of playing video games was when my mom played King's Quest IV when I was four. She even let me play a bit, although I was such an atrocious speller and typer at the time that she ended up doing most of the typing... or writing down the words I was supposed to type...

Then King's Quest V came out, Mom got it as well, and I ended up playing much more of that game than King's Quest IV. I remember that we played separately... or something... because I remember that the first time she played, she didn't pick up Cassima's locket... and when I played through that game, I did get it.

Then I got into Space Quest, Quest for Glory, Mario, and Zelda, pretty much in that order... I didn't really get back into King's Quest until I was 10, and Mom got a new computer and King's Quest VII. Then we somehow came across the King's Quest Collection... I forget which one, but it was late 1995, and it was KQI through VI... which reintroduced me to the awesomeness that was KQV. I don't think I even bothered with any of the rest, except to briefly try out KQVI before writing it off as too difficult. (Hey, I was 10 at the time, and Mom wasn't as interested in those games anymore.)

I've said way more than how I first got into King's Quest, but I'd like to add that I also took an insanely long hiatus from the series starting when I was 13 and ending when I was 23... and I finally heard the music of KQIV the way it was supposed to be heard.

I played KQIV last.  I didn't do any of them in order, so...  I didn't like it as much as KQ3 or 5, but it was fun.  I like the interface.

I played III last.  It was the hardest, hands down.

About ten years ago or so my family had this oldest than dirt computer that runs Windows 3.1 on it. We got the Roberta Williams Anthology and just played the games in order. KQ 6 has always been my favorite. The storyline is fantastic. And my brother and I will quote from the games sometimes as we see fit. (KQ 6 is the one we quote the most, though). I love these games, I've been playing them since I was 9 or 10 years old (almost 21 now, hehe)

Don't feel weird, I've been playing KQ since I was practically a toddler and I just turned 22.  What's not to love?  KQ spans the ages!  :)

That it does.  A funny thing though is that I'm the youngest in the family, and the biggest KQ fan by far.  (My dad being the only other one who has played that much)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone :) You all are very nice. Haids, I like your avatar. Did you make that or did you find it? It does span the ages! sometimes my mom will say, "Why are you playing those old games" I tell her that the games are good, it doesn't always have to be some newfangled thing to be good.

I made it one day when I was playing around on cafepress.com.  I put it on a T-shirt that I've had for years.  I also put it on a messenger bag, but I'm still waiting to order it.
