So, you wouldn't mind going out with a woman who is 7 years older than you?  ;)

Quote from: copycat on January 06, 2004, 03:08:11 PMAnway, why is a biological age difference of 7 or 6 years so bad?

Seeing as how you apparently missed all the virtual essays on the matter I wrote in this thread already, I'll just say it almost always is for me, and leave it at that. I'd have to know you better than as simply an online acquaintance to judge whether or not to make an exception, and that doesn't seem very likely. For what it's worth, my own "age range" tends to be about 4-5 years in either direction.

And, what does it matter to you anyway? You don't even like the way I look, you don't like the Lord of the Rings movies, you're the same height as I am yet manage to weigh less, and I bet you haven't seen Babylon 5, either. Bah, to heck with you. :D

Hee, a good question, Storm!

Well, usually the only younger folk that I get along with well are the ones who are mature enough beyond their years to be the same as I or greater than I in their mental capacity. Which makes sense, I suppose. :)

Not at all. If we match I don't see any problem from my side. Whether or not a woman would want a man 7 years younger than her is another matter ofcourse.

I didn't miss those virtual essays. It's just that my parents are also seven years apart in biological age, in the same order as you and I differ.

I can't say I don't like them because I haven't seen them. What is the case is the fact I don't feel the urge to watch the Lord of the Rings movies because they would probably spoil the images I made in my mind when reading the book.

If I wouldn't have seen Babylon 5, then why would I have a picture of Babylon 4 as my Windows95 startup splash screen?

Ah. My own parents were only two years apart... my mother older than my father, actually. The age thing still doesn't work for me personally, though.

Same difference, only worse... you seem convinced you won't like them without having even seen them! ;)

Crap. I got you mixed up with someone else.

You still haven't commented on the looks thing, though. I simply can't buy any affection, virtual or otherwise, from someone who doesn't like the way I look. Hmmph.

Hmm...interesting points Say. But yeah, almost all of the guys I've dated have been younger than me. Certainly all the better ones! The one was my age (1 month older) was a terrible relationship and we dated for about, ohhh, 1 and a half longer than we should've! and the other, who was about 2 years older than me, we dated for three weeks.

Apart from those...the younger they get, the better they seem to be for me! ;D

I probably won't like how they left out some parts of the book, and elaborated on some other parts, although that seems to be minimal. At least they say it's not as bad as Harry Potter, I watched the first one at home, book at hand, and there was much flipping forth and back to do. If I wouldn't have read the book beforehand, I would've probably liked that movie, but since I did, no thank you. Hence my hesitation to go and see the LOTR movies.

No, I had to do some thinking on that. You see, looks are only one part of the whole package, there's long haired women who have a bad personality in my eyes, so I may find them beautiful, but that won't match. The voice is yet another thing. I know a woman, beautiful hair, nice personality but the voice is not exactly as sensual as yours. I can live with that though. Also, from my experiences with pictures of that woman, I know actual looks can be much better than photographs so I can't really make a definitive decision on your looks before I have seen you IRL. Anyway, personality is the most important part of the people I befriend, male or female. My specific standards of the looks can be altered if the occasion requires that. Besides, hair doesn't have to be that long, it can also be mid-long. It all depends on the circumstances, on tv I've also seen long haired women I don't find that beautiful anyway.
In short: I may still like the way you look, once I get to see you IRL. You've already got the personality passed and the voice too, that's already two out of three. And your age is within my 'limits' so that's actually three out of four.
