The ordering of Weekly Polls...

...is kind of weird, to say the least. For instance, the most recent poll on my current visit to the section shows up at the very bottom of the list! And there's been a few occasions where I missed a replied-to poll because it stayed at the bottom of the list instead of going to the top the way most replied-to posts do.

Maybe you could always make the newest poll sticky, and unsticky all the previous polls and let them "drift" as they may in terms of being replied to? Of course, that's assuming that polls are being made sticky and that's what's making the ordering so odd... otherwise, I'm at a loss.

Is the ordering of polls perhaps also based on how recently a poll has been voted in, even if no one has replied to it? That's the reason I never browse Tierra's poll section... you can never tell what's been recently replied to, as opposed to simply recently voted in.

its honestly odd I did arrange them once (made them sticky per week), but I think neil fixed them this week, so no clue about it, either way we will figure it out

Hahaha this is hilarious because I just noticed this and fixed it myself doing exactly what u just wrote -- before even seeing this thread!   :D I didn't realise they were all set to sticky before (in order to separate it from regular polls) and that's what was screwing up the order. ::)

Anyway, the newest one will be set to sticky and the rest will not.  That will preserve the newest to always be on top.  I can't fix the order of them, because the newest reply always pushes it to the top (I don't think the voting pushes it up).

Well, that's exactly how it should be for the older stuff, IMHO. It's the fact that it wasn't working like that which was confusing the heck out of me. :P

Yeah, I was messing around with both the Poll file and the SQL database a few days ago, so I thought I might have to go back in there and look around.  ::)  Usually the index icon has a red pushpin on it if it's sticky, but I guess polls don't have that.  I thought I should just try opening one of the polls to check and that's when I realised.

I think just having the most recent Weekly Poll as sticky is better than having them all work like the other forums.   :)
