I know this is the last thing you want to think about, Bushie, but you could try getting braces again, to see if they hold this time. I also had to wear braces in middle school, but fortunately they seem to have worked properly. Good thing, too... I would have gone nuts if I had had to wear them much longer. :P

I like the look of my smile well enough, I just rarely ever feel like doing it.

Nah, I'll just wait until I have my wisdom teeth pulled. ;) Maybe when those are gone my teeth will spread out a bit and not be so prominent in the front. Though they don't really stick out *that* much... ;)

I was fortunate enough to never need braces or any kind of correctional device for my teeth, though all my other siblings did  ;D

I still don't like my teeth though... that's why if I smile, I keep my mouth closed :-[

I had braces back in the day. Not for too long, they did their job and left.

Bushie, I don't recall noticiing any bucktoothedness on you!

I love smiling. Smiling is great. So is laughing. Just actually performing the act of smiling or laughing can contribute to feeling happier.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D SMILE!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Oh, I have a bit, trust me. ;) But they only stick out by a few millimeters at least so it's not too bad. ;)

*sees marquee and smiles* ;D

Why would you want your wisdom teeth pulled? Mine (still) don't bother me a bit (and I've got all four), so there's really no need to pull them. Besides; if I had them pulled, all my wisdom 'd be gone! ;D
And about that spreading of the teeth. I don't think removing teeth at the back will have any effect on the teeth at the front. BTW, make sure to brush the wisdom teeth too, even if it's a bit difficult. Advice given to me by my dentist. :D

Never had any braces, but then again, my teeth are somewhat in a straight line, I mean no tooth is sticking out excessively, so I don't see the need, and neither did/does my dentist.

Unfortunately my wisdom teeth are impacted and can't exactly grow proper. :( They are kinda slanted and pushing up against my regular teeth. Which is part of why I think having them remove will take care of excessive pressure in the front of my teeth.

Removing wisdom teeth *can* have an effect on the rest of your mouth, especially if they were growing in badly enough to push up against your other teeth. Whether or not removing them will have enough of an effect to forstall Bushie needing braces again, I don't know. Not sure how soon after getting his braces out that his teeth shifted back more to pre-brace, but if it was fairly recently his wisdom teeth may have had something to do with it. (I was pretty lucky in the wisdom teeth regard, all told... although I do have a metal bar behind my lower front teeth that likely helped.)

That sucks that they're impacted, though, Bushie. It makes it more of a pain to get them out. Mine were just slightly impacted, so they came out fairly easily... but my roomie's were more impacted, and thus were literally more of a pain. On the bright side, he got to imbibe narcotics legally for a time. ;)

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

Narcotics? Eep. :o I take enough drugs as it is, thanks. ;) I'll just grin and bear it. ;)

Though they really aren't very impacted, just slightly impacted. And my teeth are still much better than they were before braces. ;)

Heh. I didn't have to take any "hard drugs" myself. ;) I still had to cave in a little on my medicine dislike and take a steady regimen of ibuprofen, though. Not to mention a steady diet of cream of wheat and soup. :P Oh, and rinsing with a stupid little syringe thingy.

Well, if your teeth are only slightly impacted, it might not be too bad. Mine just sort of came right out, took maybe 20 minutes tops. In fact, getting the Novocaine injected hurt more than the actual pulling. Now, my wallet, on the other hand... *that's* still hurting. :P

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

I'm allergic to ibuprofen, my face just bloats like mad... :P Hopefully tylenol will be enough to counteract any pain. ;)

Trust me bushie....when you come to and find you've got four gaping holes sewn up in the back of your mouth and you holding bloody tissue things in your jaw for the majority of those first two days...  things like perkaset look PRETTY damn good! Allergies taken into consideration and alll..trust me, you WILL want something to take for the pain!!

(apologies for graphic descriptions...but the guy oughta know what he's in for!)

Hmm. He may or may not need something as strong as Percocet... however, Bushie, you are definitely going to need something stronger than Tylenol, even if things go pretty smoothly. Aspirin, maybe?

As for "coming to"... depending on how badly (or not badly) his teeth are impacted, he may not need general anesthesia. Certainly anything other than local anesthetic would have been overkill for my teeth extraction... not to mention even more overkill on my wallet. :P Actually, my roomie had to have a fair amount of cutting and stitching done, and he had local anesthetic, too. Aside from being cheaper, it's also safer.

Now aren't you completely petrified, Bushie? :suffer:

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

 :o

Aspirin is evil too. :P Ibuprofen, aspirin, and anything with similar chemicals in them are bad. :( I know aspirin is stronger, but I don't think a bloated face will help keep the pain down. ;) As for having bloody tissue things in my mouth, I did have nasal surgery as a kid (they were looking for polyps and found none so they enlarged my sinus cavities) and had these weird things in my nose for a while, it was quite a pain. :P And of course I had that surgery a year and a month ago on my bladder and was stuck with something post-surgery even worse than the nose thing for a few weeks before finally having it removed. :P I know what pain feels like. ;)

At least one of my wisdom teeth hasn't came out fully either, but there's still room between that one and the one in front (because I can still fit my floss between them. :D), so I don't think it's pushing anything.
AFAIK I'm not allergic to aspirin and sorts, but my dad is.
About narcotics and medicine in general, the more I'm able to avoid them, the better.
