Most annoying KQ puzzle

Almost every KQ had their hated parts;

KQ 1 = the beanstalk
KQ 2 = the thorny path(until I figured out that you're not supposed to kill the snake:})
KQ3 = the path down from Mannanan's and the mountain climb, the spell casting
KQ 4 = the mansion stairs, the troll, the path down from Lolotte's, the WHALE TONGUE!
KQ 5 = CEDRIC!
KQ 6 = the logic cliffs' stepping stones, the catacombs
KQ 7 = the firecracker
KQ 8 = the DoD

We wonder what KQ 9 will have to frustrate the h*ck out of us? ;)

But looking at all this and then the topic at hand, "most annoying KQ puzzles", all these are irrelevant, aren't they? A puzzle is a intelletual difficulty and these are more dexterity/hand-eye coordination/patience/random luck difficulties.

As far as puzzles go for me personally, I couldn't figure out the gnome name in KQ 1 for the longest time and my bald spot is because of that! That one has to be the worst one. I mean I knew the name "Rumplestiltskin" but to have to do the whole saying-it-backwards-after-having-matched-it-alphabetically-to-a-reverse-alphabet-crap was so out there I could've killed the guy who thought it up.

Anyway that's my humble opinion...

KQ4:  The three hags.  It took me forever to get in the right place to steal that flipping eye.
KQ5:  Gah... too... many... mazes...  The one in Mordack's castle is the worst, though.  You can't even tell what direction you're in!
KQ6:  Um... I used a walkthrough for the whole thing.  *shame!*
KQ7:  Uh, that firecracker was irritating, I guess.

I can't believe I forgot the hags in KQ4! How I hate them!

Poor hags, they're always cast as antagonists.  ::)

Bumpity bump bump.

THE most annoying KQ puzzle was definately the chasm thing in KQ4. That was the worst. The whole area behind the chasm with the snake and the swamp was hard, the troll, the witches, the EVERYTHING. That game was friggin' impossible.

By the way...big post number 250...and this is nearly ONE YEAR after I joined these forums!  :-\

The thing where you had to jump around on the platforms with the symbols that were above the door. That was kinda hard...  ::)

King's Quest One: The gnome's name (IMPOSSIBLE to figure out without hint guide).

King's Quest Two (Remake): Just about everything. This was a HARD game, but it was the most complete King's Quest that I've ever played, so it was worth it. There were too many tough parts, ESPECIALLY the entire final ring stage at nighttime, which was eerie and hard.

King's Quest Three: Spell Casting

King's Quest Four: EVERYTHING. The hardest King's Quest ever. The chasm, the whole snake/lillypad part, the whale, the three hags, and the GODDAMN broken-shovel dead end which ruined the entire game. It's still one of my favorite KQ's, but DAMN!

King's Quest Five: Hmm, probably the whole witch part or everything in the desert. It wasn't tremendously hard, but it was definately an entertaining one.

King's Quest Six: The catacombs and the CLIFFS OF LOGIC! ARGH!

King's Quest Seven: The whole Rock Spirit guy just pissed me off because he'd always blow me away. The boogeyman stuff was difficult and obviously all of chapter five was a PAIN.

KQ 1: not realy played yet
KQ 2: idem
KQ 3: the spellbook and the cliff of many falls or deaths
KQ 4: unknown
KQ 5: unknown
KQ 6: The order of the puzzle to get the lamp must be right
KQ 7: The firework blows up one time before you reach the spot
KQ 8: the river of death one you are a bit too close imminent death will be yours.

KQ9: I'll have to wait and see.

That rounds it up for now

Every puzzle in KQ5 is a pain in the rear without a walkthrough. (Though to be fair I couldn't even solve KQ3 with a walkthrough)

I mean some of that stuff is ridiculous. It's all random-clicking and guess-work. Using a bag of peas to slip up a big monster that's coming after you!? Atleast KQ6's puzzles made sense, and there were a few hints as to what you had to do. (The Arch-Druid telling you about the Knight, Jollo basically telling you to buy the lamp after faking your death. Though befriending Jollo was kinda silly to figure out. So was the book to the Oyster...)

Yeah, difficulty-wise, KQ5 had billions of dead-ends and obscure puzzles involving pies and peas and stuff. KQ6 had a few, but they weren't nearly as obscure.

After re-playing KQ6, the only thing I needed a walkthrough for was the fourth puzzle on the cliffs of logic, nothing was implied. It made me a sad Aldrius.

Deloria

You need to read the manual, thoroughly. It says what the sacred four are (or just read my fan-fic "The ancient ones" :P)
