Poor Say! overworked on Valentine's Day :-[
Try to get some sleep anyway... it's the best thing against stress. Just lie in bed and think of nothing - that works for me sometimes when I can't sleep.

And I wasn't complaining! I don't mind being all by my lonesome that much :-\ Now, it would be even better if everyone around me stopped smoking... Oops, there goes another complaint. I just can't help myself  :P

I can be both extremely naive and I can be humorous straight-faced, so I wouldn't know what situation I was in when I typed that post. ;)

I can't think of nothing in purpose. I just have random thoughts when I'm lying in bed and after a short while (unless I go to bed (too) early) I fall alspeep. I do not know whether or not I'm thinking of nothing when I actually fall asleep. ;D However, it's definitely a good prescription for stress. ;)

Luckily for me no smoking at home and no smoking at work. And when I'm in the vicinity of a smoker, it doesn't take me long to locate him/her. I'm not very fond of cigar-(ette) smoke.

Sounds a bit like me... I'm almost never able to just think of nothing... my mind's always going full-speed.

Quote from: copycat on February 20, 2004, 02:51:51 PMLuckily for me no smoking at home and no smoking at work. And when I'm in the vicinity of a smoker, it doesn't take me long to locate him/her. I'm not very fond of cigar-(ette) smoke.

One of the perks of moving out of my mom's house was being able to live in a smoke-free house finally. And most workplaces don't allow smoking, so I've never had to worry about that. Unfortunately, smoking is allowed in the outside "wait area" at the bus terminal, which is extremely annoying. I've spent many a time having to walk back and forth all over the place trying to find a spot near some "fresh" air. Every time I'd finally find one, I'd stand there for maybe all of a minute, then someone with a cigarette would wander over. Graaaah. So I'd either have to move, or see how long I could go without breathing. Or how long I can stand being stuck in a coughing fit before going insane. :P

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

Gack, that's annoying. I also hate how some people can't take a hint when you purposefully move far away from them and they quickly get right next to you again.

I can't either... usually I don't need to try and think of nothing when I go to sleep. I only have to do that if I'm not particularly tired  8)
Sure, you think of stuff all the time, but the secret is not to dwell on anything. If a thought comes to your mind, you don't concentrate on it but let go when you exhale, and with every breath you say the word "nothing" in your mind. After a while, you get so bored you fall asleep ;)

My mother would never let anyone smoke in the house... even when she herself smoked (she quit years ago) she wouldn't do it in the house. Otherwise she'd never get the smell out of the curtains ;)
I don't let anyone smoke in my place either... I can't stand it even if I just walk behind someone who smokes on the street  ::)

Hah,

I'm a decent smoker. I try not to smoke near people who doesn't like someone smoking around. If we are walking, I'll try to stay behind.

But children, children, calm down!

Hows about someone invents a smokable that goes inside the poor victim's mouth, and so they get all the smoky joy and the NON SMOKERS don't have the smokiness? :D

WOW, I INVENTED TWO THINGS :D

The trick is for the smoker to stay downwind from the non-smoker. So depending on which way the wind's blowing... OK, I'll stop there. ;)

As for Mango's thought... I wish somebody would invent a "cigarette smoke container" that keeps all the smoke contained until you have a good way to "dispose" of it. That way smokers can smoke wherever they want and non-smokers get "fresh" air. Sounds pretty win-win to me.

Although I will say, with a large degree of seriousness, that it's much better for your health to quit smoking.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

I wish we had oxygen "cigarettes", so people could breathe in fresh filtered oxygen when the air is too polluted.

Actually, breathing in air with too high an oxygen concentration can be unhealthy, except in controlled medical treatments for smoke inhalation, and that sort of thing. I'd think you'd want just plain old "air", that's the natural balance of base and trace gases, but without any pollutants.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Oldbushie

Yeah, that sounds about right. :P
