I would like to suggest you add the KQ7 promotional movie (the one from the KQ collection) to the movie section.
It's better for people who haven't played the game yet, since it shows how the game really looks and isn't as much a spoiler as the movies from the game.

I'd like to see it. I've already played the game, but I'd still like to see it just to know what it is.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing the video myself.   ;D  Unfortunately, I don't have the KQ Collection.  :-\

I have the KQ collection! I just, er, have no way to encode the video or anything. :P (Plus it'd take me forever to upload the thing with my modem.) Otherwise I'd help out.

Peace & Luv, Liz

I would upload it but my modem is also crap, and my ISP isnt that good either :D

Why encode it? it's already in a .avi file  ???

Anyhow, I do have the KQ collection and wouldn't mind uploading it  ;)

Thanks Storm, but just keep the video handy for now.  I'll ask for it later.  Right now my dept's really busy working on something...  ;D

...As always  ;)

I thought you had all those movies... after all, you have all those other promotional videos.

Quote from: Jeysie on January 27, 2004, 03:43:56 AMWell, I meant encode as in use a certain codec, I guess... I guess compress would have been a better term?

The file is about 6MB, so I don't think it needs compression, and it worked fine on my media player.
Anyway, browsing through the collection I found a non-playable demo of KQ7 (I forgot about it and thought the demo and the movie were one in the same) so I thought that's what you meant needs encoding :-\

Speaking of KQ and movies, with all the success of the Lord of the Rings, it would seem like a Kings Quest movie would be pretty cool if it's done right. Hmmm.... ::)

Some would argue that KQ5-7 *are* movies. Especially KQ6, what with all the sequences it had. It even used real acting to make the drawings look a lot more realistic! :D

Yeah, KQ7 was very "movie-like" as well. However, I'm not talking animated. I'm talking with real actors.

Quote from: oldbushie on January 27, 2004, 03:26:18 PMErm... you do know that there's a non-spyware version as well, right? It's just the encoding application thing you need to pay/get the spyware version for. They hide the strings-free link a little but it can be found. It has the codecs and the latest player I think, though you really don't need the DivX player at all. :P

All I found in the players was the free version of DiVX Pro, which has this page attached to it:

And Gator is definitely spyware. :P Was there some other program I missed?

That reminds me of how in the KQ6 portion of a behind-the-scenes program in the KQ Collection, there's a cute picture of the actors who played King Caliphim and Queen Allaria laughing hysterically over some unknown funny thing. ;D Makes me wonder who all the "actors" were, anyway. The SQ5 ones were Sierra employees... I wonder if the KQ6 ones were too, or if they got "professionals" for that as well.

I think a KQ movie would be cool as well... although unless you did some major re-writes I doubt they could make much of a movie of anything before KQ3. (shrug) It would be neat to figure out which actors would do which part (the SOTW "casting" notwithstanding, hee). Although actually, considering how far animation has come in many ways lately, an animated version might be kinda neat.

Eh. Patrick Stewart went bald at 19, and he still got voted one of People magazine's Sexiest Men, so no worries. :D

Whoo, a quadruple quote! Is that some kind of record?

I had occasion to look through said program again recently, so I snapped said image. Isn't it fun? :D
