QuoteI wouldn't worry, apart from some details, Europe (and especially England) is already very 'Americanised', particularly Western-Europe

Hahahaha no no no! The commercial side of England may have become indestiguishable from America but culture-wise it's totally different. Of course I'm only talking from what I've learned from talking to people in the US and what I've seen on TV(hehe). I think many people will be shocked at how Un-religious the UK is, especially my parents and my generation. I'm not saying they dont share some similarities (12 year old girls wanting to wear mini skirts due to Britney/_enter generic female pop star_ etc etc) but as Jeysie says it would be a pretty big culture shock!

A greater likelihood of living near a beach. ;)

Yeah! I live by the beach! well, a walking distance from the beach, anyway. And don't diss our coastline, Copycat. It's longer than yours :P

Pfft, I don't need no coastline, and I don't need no beach. Apart from the so-called healthy see-air, there's nothing I can do on a beach I like or can't do anywhere else.

Quote from: Jeysie on February 20, 2004, 04:12:57 PMPlus, AFAIK England's really the only European country where English is a "native" language. I have no knack for learning languages, and don't exactly relish the thought of being a "perpetual tourist".
I wouldn't worry about the language too much. Official Dutch is too difficult, even for me, but if you learn a Flemish dialect, that's much easier. <3

Now you've got me wondering who's more un-religious, the English or the Flemish. ::)

So you don't like to sunbathe? Or go swimming? Granted, I generally prefer a pool when I go swimming, but there is a certain novelty to swimming in a lake or in the ocean sometimes... not to mention a lot more room. Plus, pools usually cost money to swim in, but lakes/oceans are more likely to be free to swim in.

Heh. In my experience, opposites may attract, but they also argue a lot. (Re: my ex-boyfriend. :P ) I'm more a "birds of a feather flock together" type.

Perhaps, but it's still beyond my abilities. After four years worth of Spanish classes, all I can do is read it a little. I was never any good at speaking it, or understanding it spoken. I probably could learn to read/write another language with facility, if I tried... my visual comprehension is pretty good. But I have a hard enough time understanding spoken English at times, let alone an unfamiliar language. :P
