Favorite Castle or Palace?

Both KQ and QFG have provincial castles and urban palaces.  I have two favs.

KQ- Etheria
Psycholigists say that if you "Build castles in the sky, you are neurotic."  "If you live in them, you are psychotic."  Does this mean I have the potential to be a messed up villian like a Dark One??? j/k.
I like the castle in the clouds motif although it is a bit overdone.

QFG- Toss up between Mordavia and Erasmus' Castle in Silmaria.
Mordavia was sinister and dark, and ultimately held the secrets of a fallen Boyar and the coffins of the undead.  The perfect spot for a vacation, complete with access to a screamingly serene cemetary.

I like Erasmus' castle in Silmaria....again, a castle in the sky, that and it has a teleporter access pad and a super obnoxious cloud guardian security system.  I like the metal dragons at the door too.

Anyone else have any favs?

B'rrr

one of my fav castles is;

castle of dr Brain

welll it's not from KQ or QFG, but it's still one of my fav ; )

myt fav castle for KQ would be daventry's (the one we're going to explore in KQ9 ; )

I never played Dr. Brain.  What is the castle like?

The Castle of Dr Brain is really neat, puzzles all over and has an interesting design. Almost like a usual castle but with some secret or mind-bending rooms. ;)

Dracula's castle in the KQ2 VGA remake.
"And still we all are so hopeful,
So righteous in our blood.
It looks so tarnished in our eyes,
Yet so afraid of...

Fading into nothing,
Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light
That burns within our thoughts... "

Genesta's palace from KQ4 (the whole island, actually) and the Castle of the Crown from KQ6  :)

Agreed!  I wanted to live there!  :D  Not sure how I would take to living on an isolated island, though - I'd have to be able to fly to and from the mainland like Genesta.  ;)

castle of the crown, and mordack's castle.

Genesta's castle, IMNSHO, had one major flaw - you couldn't explore anything in it!! Those two other doors in the entryway bugged the hell outta me since you couldn't open them - then why put them there? Why? WHY MUST YOU TAUNT ME SO WITH DOORS I CANNOT OPEN?!?!?    :o :( >:(!!

Ahem! Flashbacks there, sorry ;-)

Yeah, swimming through an ocean full of sharks and whales isn't the best way to travel ;P

I had the same issue with those doors... but since there was nothing to do in the castle during most of the game, it was the best way to show there are more rooms without having to actually make some :-\
It would have been nice to be able to explore the rest of the castle though *hint, hint*  :P

Hahaha yes, I think those locked doors caused most everyone a lot of grief!  XD
I think when designing a game, it's difficult to completely avoid including hints of areas that exist but cannot be explored, but argh!!  Those dang doors were right smack in front of us!!  We couldn't help but be exceedingly curious!  Perhaps someone ought to go pay Genesta a visit, now that she's feeling better.  ;)

Definitely the Castle of the Crown. It's the most realistic castle (minus the guard dogs, of course- but I like Saladin too much to judge them) and it's the largest castle in the series (bar Mordack's Island/Castle, perhaps).
Every door was openable, and every door contained vital plot details behind them (except the kitchen; in adventure games, you never go in kitchens).

Celli

I liked the Castle of the Crown and Mordack's castle too. The latter just needing a few redecorating touchs. ;)

After the royal family kills off so many castle and palace owners, what happens to the castle?  Who is in Lolotte's? Are the henchman partying it up now? What about Mordack's? I don't see Sam and Dink being smart enough to keep the place up. Perhaps the Harpies have taken up residence.

Oldbushie

Maybe the Hermit moves in. ;)

As for Lolotte's place, the fisherman needs a place to put all the stuff he got from selling the treasure he got from Rosella. ;)

I see him as moving into the abandoned mansion. The henchman do need a place to stay. lol What with all the masochist toys in the prison cells. ;)

:o

Hmm... I never knew they liked to play Dungeons and Dragons down there. ;)

Dungeons and Dragons was long before my time, so you've lost me. :P

Oldbushie

Lol, it's a tabletop RPG thing, as in playing make believe with a bunch of pieces and a rulebook. ;)

It could also be a euphemism. ;)

A lot of current RPG computer games are DnD based. So if you want a good example, pick up Neverwinter Nights or Balder's Gate 1 and 2.

Anyway, before we get too off topic...

I liked the Boyar's Castle in Mordavia.. very moody (and maybe a little buggy)

The White Tower from Lands of Lore 1 was also very memorable. Especially the ghost infested third level... *shivers*  :o

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!
