I think part of the sync problem might be because computers are much faster today than they were in 1990, and the graphics and sound don't match up very well cause of that. I do agree that text might help a bit, and that you could click through a scene instead of the silly warning. But I did find that the volume only controlled music, so you could hear people over the music.
And I am not saying the voices were excellent, although they are pretty good (I finished the entire game in 3 hours yesterday), it is more the scripting that I really enjoy, and the great quips. But I still think Graham's scream when he falls off the mountain cliffs is priceless.

My ears did hurt a bit when I was done, I suppose the voices grated somewhat...
