6! 6! 6! 6! 6! NOT 5, ONLY 6!!!
How can you even compare them? ok, in KQ5 the voices were memorable, but that's only because they were so HORRIBLE!!!
:o :o :o :o

~Kurt~ -
How did you get to be Tierra's favorite (in other words, who did you have to kill to get your voice in the game)?
More important still, who do I have to kill to get my voice into KQ9? :suffer:

We'll be putting uot the hitlist closer to the release of the game, once we're ready to audition. ;)    ::)

Which KQ5 are you referring to? I played the CD version, and I loved the voices... *sniff*
I know the narrator was always speaking a lot, but at least his bass voice was okay, it wasn't grating or anything. And Cedric was a little high-pitched, but I like the owl accent. Am I the only one who likes the voices in KQ5?

ARE YOU NUTS?!?!! :o :o
I think the voices on KQ5 (it only had voices on the CD version) are the worst on any computer games I've ever heard! It's been long since I played that game, but I still recall that HORRIBLE narrator, who sounded like he was chewing his words rather than speaking them.
The other voices were equally bad. It was obvious to me when I first heard them that they didn't use professional voice-actors, or even talented amatuers. ):c ):c ):c

I know it's supposed to be a matter of taste and all, but come on!!! saying the KQ5 voice-acting is good is like calling black white. However, I do know that there IS at least one other guy who shares your auditory tastlessness - Vildern! :D

Was Cedric really supposed nerve-grating? I think it was mostly BECAUSE of the voice that I found him so irritating. I don't remember getting that annoyed by him when I first played the game, with no voices. ::)

About the voices - you may like some of them, but you can't deny they are very poorly done, especially when you compare them to KQ6. ;)

I have no memory recollection of me hating the voices in KQ5 so I probably haven't found them horrible. Apart from the fact that my full duplex soundcard has to be switched to monoplex and thus makes sure the lip-synch gets ouf of phase frequently (though that could also be my CD-player messing that up), I found nothing wrong with the voices. 8)

While I'll admit to being tired and all at the moment, I'm rather certain of this one....

is there another way you would pronounce the word "Graham" such that it did not sound the same as "Gram"...?  ???

Also...I too do not recall having a huge problem with the voice actors in KQ5, though yes KQ6 was just awesome in the regard; but no ill memories haunt me or soemthing.

When I played KQ5 and KQ6, I never had a sound card.  I always pronounced Graham as "Gray-ham" or "Gray-am".  I'd emphasize the "a", rather than "Gram", a unit of weight! :P

Hmm..odd, I wasn't aware that it could be pronounced another way!  I've always said it Graham and never heard it said different, right down to the crackers. I never thought it might be an Ameircanized pronounciation.

I checked KQ5 again, and the voices are not THAT horrible, but you could still see they're not professional, and nowhere nearly as good as KQ6's. I stand by my words about the narrator though - he REALLY irritated me, even more than Cedric :P
Also irritating - the lack of synch between voices & animation, the fact that you can't click through the speech, and have no text (especially since the speech is difficult to understand at times).
::) ::)

Oldbushie

I think part of the sync problem might be because computers are much faster today than they were in 1990, and the graphics and sound don't match up very well cause of that. I do agree that text might help a bit, and that you could click through a scene instead of the silly warning. But I did find that the volume only controlled music, so you could hear people over the music.

And I am not saying the voices were excellent, although they are pretty good (I finished the entire game in 3 hours yesterday), it is more the scripting that I really enjoy, and the great quips. But I still think Graham's scream when he falls off the mountain cliffs is priceless. ;)

My ears did hurt a bit when I was done, I suppose the voices grated somewhat... :(

QuoteI wasn't aware that it could be pronounced another way!

It can't be. It is pronounced "Gram" and only "Gram".

Gray-ham... Good grief.

Oldbushie

Mebbe Greh-um?

It sorta comes out like two syllables when I say it...

That's what I thought. I'll give it is spelled funny to be pronounced that way, though.

Graham at Dictionary.com

Okay, there it is, how to pronounce it and all, and it is in fact said like the word gram.

Gram at dictionary.com

So now we can all be happy and know:)

It is NOT only said like the word 'gram'. It can also be said gray-em, like I always used to. The fact Sierra chose one pronunciation does not mean the other one is invalid. ):c

I guess you could say it "Gra-HAM" Of course, it still sounds like "gram." I knew how to spell Graham from looking at the words on a graham cracker box. :P I don't have a problem with any of the voices, I thought Cedric was cute. He reminds me of my parakeet, the way he was scared all the time.

That just shows you're English, not that you're good at spelling. If you'd ask a Dutch (or Flemish, that's better) speaking person, who knows nothing about the English language to spell 'Gray-em', and you'd get 'greejem'. 8)
