How are you = hoe gaat het met jou
Hope to see you soon = tot gauw
I'm not insane = Ik ben niet gek
I love kitties = Ik hou van poesjes
In my Flemish dialect it goes like this:
How are you =
Hoe goaget mè eiHope to see you soon :
Hopelek tot strekI'm not insane =
Ik zen nie zot.I love kitties :
Ik heif van poesjes. In regular Flemish, the only differences are:
'gek' is Dutch and 'zot' is Flemish.
Also 'gauw' is Dutch and 'straks' is its Flemish counterpart.
you can now make your way in holland, belgium, and south africa, and a few more countries ; )
You won't get far with those sentences in the Wallons. Flemish people, being multilinguistic by nature, can understand Dutch, but that doesn't mean they speak it. Besides, IIRC correctly, Holland is just a part of the Netherlands.
Rob, don't you know boots? When we say 'Amai men botte(n)', it means we think the idea is kinda strange (in a general sense).
Storm, I wouldn't do that if I were you, it would get quite messy. And no, the spelling isn't quite correct. In proper Dutch it would be:
'Ik ga in mijn broek kakken.'
