-thinking that he should look into applications for internships for observatories for this summer... possibly in Europe (though Europe is crap for astronomy... sorry to my European friends... I love Europe, but it's too wet and low in general for observatories... (notable exceptions being of course the mountain ranges)

-thinking it is silly to try to add more applications when I'm already worrying too much about the ones out there ...also, it would be wonderfully problematic to get accepted by two for the same time... of course, I'd probably be worrying less if that were a realistic concern

-thinking he should stop thinking in type in the What Are You Doing Thread and just listen to music

Wish I could do that; it would be nice to give back after I had to be the recipient of so much, but alas it is not to be. :-/

Though I've had no transfusions in the recent past, I also cannot donate.  I've  been tattooed too recently.

Aww. I'm anemic, so it's rare that I can be able to give blood (I got deferred the last two times I tried) but today it worked out wonderfully. The needles hurt a LOT less than I thought I remembered.

Ugh, it sucks to get deferred!  I hadn't eaten lunch yet once when I went to donate (I was surviving off of a mocha), so they turned me away.    Congrats on a successful donation though, Kelsey!  It always feels good to give blood.  (On the inside, of course.  )

Yay Kels! I haven't tried to give blood in years because the time I did, I clotted before they could get a full pint!

If it'd make you feel better, I could contact a friend of my cousin's who lives in NC who I bet does not know about your health issues.

-being awakened by my mom telling me about her recent conquest of my wardrobe

(she asked to do my laundry for me earlier this week... which was odd since we (my brother and I) tend to do our own laundry these days... I came home to find that she had gone through all of my clothes deciding what to keep and what to give away/trash)

-realizing that the plus side of this is probably that what she decided I could keep is probably small enough that I could fit it ALL in a large piece of travel luggage...

-having a soar throat for no apparent reason...
-wishing my notebooks weren't way over there
-waiting for the big breakfast my dad just proposed making
