Curious observation about KQVI

I know I keep making these threads, but no harm in it, right?

Rewatching the intro video to KQVI, I've noticed that Alexander's crew look distinctly like pirates.

Surely after his dealings with pirates in KQIII, Alexander would do good to steer clear of these types?

Alternatively, perhaps his experiences with the pirates in KQIII had the opposite effect and he now feels comfortable around pirates since they were an important part of his homecoming. :P ( Also, the last couple of times I replayed KQ3 I couldn't stop myself from wishing that the Pirate Captain would take Alexander under his wing and each night announce: "Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning.")

I have to go with Delling on that one... Perhaps he'll turn into a Guybush Threepwood type character now... Except without the "wannabe"...

As long as he doesn't end up dead like Guybrush.

I never beat Monkey Island, so I didn't know that Guybrush dies.  >:(

Don't be silly. You can't die in a Lucasarts adventure game! ::)

It wasn't actually a LucasArts game, it was a TellTale game,

A weirder thing is that his crew looks very similar to the ghouls that walk around in the early frames of the realm of the dead.

But the crew's survival is later confirmed.

Ah, but it depsnds on which ending you choose.  If you save the genie, then yes, it confirms that the crew lived.  But if you kill the genie, then you never really know.   :o  So maybe, just maybe, they were SUPPOSED to be his crew...

For the record, Guybrush actually doesn't die in the final chapter of Tales of Monkey Island, at least not to my knowledge. From what I understand, you actually play as him trying to get back into his body. It's not out just yet, so my information may not be entirely accurate, but I'm pretty sure he's not completely gone...

Ooh, I hope this thread doesn't get too spoilerish! I haven't played any of the new MI game yet but I'm hoping to get it for Christmas.

Oh, and I've always had the same thought Mango! The rounder pirate with the red stripes always made me think about the pirates in Guybrush's crew at the beginning of MI4.

XD XD That would have been a hysterical easter egg in the remake XD XD

For the record, I've actually only played the Secret of Monkey Island special edition for the Xbox 360 and a little bit of the first chapter of Tales of Monkey Island, the Launch of the Screaming Narwhal. I've read some spoilers for me to find out what happens in the overall series, but I haven't actually played any of the other games yet. In any case, the fifth and final chapter of Tales of Monkey Island is out now for the PC, so we can finally find out what happens to Guybrush. I just hope that we can get more Monkey Island in the future... But getting back on topic, I still need to play through KQ3 again, particularly the remake. It's been such a long time since I've played it that I really should get off my butt and start it. I need to refamiliarize myself with the KQ series overall in preperation for the release of TSL.
