I could write a novel on how much I hate the Twilight series. The writing and what it advocates. BLECH!

Love/hate relationship with Twilight. Read 'em. Enjoyed 'em. Been to Forks. LOVE to make fun of them! They're sooooooo not the greatest pieces of American literature ever written, but they're fun to read. It's nice to lose yourself in them, then gag later and psychoanalyze with fellow love/haters. I think Katie can agree with me on this one.

-About to do some Photoshop exercises
-Discussing programming nightmares with my classmates (one of them said he dreamed that he shot the instructor, and then a miniature version of the instrucor came out of the bullet hole and said, "IT NEVER ENDS."

But the characters are so terrible. Bella is a whining girl with first-world problems who needs to get over herself, and is so psychotically unstable she welcomes the attentions of a stalker who breaks into her house and watches her sleep, and then asserts herself for the first time in the series by defending her foetus *which will probably kill her*.

My problem is not so much that she's a hateful character with no redeeming features who should be pitied and lampooned in equal measure - though to me she is - but rather that she is presented with the assumption that *every girl should be like this*. It's deeply disturbing.

What I want to see is a Twilight parody written in the Free Indirect Style, so that we get to see into the protagonists's warped, selfish worldview but we also get the disapproving gaze of a responsible narrator. This book would not have to parody or exaggerate the events of Twilight *in the slightest* to be totally hilarious and scathing.

I think I dislike Kristen Stewart almost as much as the character she plays.

And I hate what Twilight advocates and the not-so-subtle Mormon influences and the mass-indoctrination of stupid girls everywhere and the completely-accurate-for-a-teenage-relationship-but-certainly-not-ideal-and-definitely-not-something-desirable power dynamics.

True... but we'd probably also want to get Meyer's work on rewriting the first book from Edward's perspective and incorporate that.

-Suddenly remembering a weird ass dream I had last night. Something about a huge house with all these kids having a party, and someone was hiding on the roof waiting to murder them all...? (Hunger Games undertones there. I still have nightmares about the Hunger Games books. They were spectacular, but deeply frightening to me.)

You put most of the things away. You can't expect them to be able to clean if there are clothes and books and things everywhere.

They usually only do vacuuming/dusting/mopping etc.
