So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Sadly, I must learn it as the class I'm TAing is using it.

It's only taking about ten times as long to write code in it. >.<

Enchantermon

I had to use it in a Unix class too and never did get the hang of it. If you memorize all of the keyboard shortcuts, I'm sure it's fine, but I just can't do that, especially since I don't use any Unix-based OS as my primary (and if I did, there are so many better command line text editors).

vim is nice if a little painful.

I detest the vi editor. :wall:

That is all.
ick, no, get vim, use vim. End of story, end of line. :P

For some reason, the commands and interface in vi seem needlessly complicated to me while vim seems so much more natural/intuitive.

On a related note, I'm basically learning iDL, C, and Fortran on the fly for my research. :-X (Switching back and forth is a pain, a painful, painful pain.)

My dad had to write Fortran programs on punchcards when he was in college. I had to learn Fortran in college, too. :X Does it still have the 80 character/line (width of a punchcard) limit?

Can't, have to use what the class is using. :( Good news though is the prof mentioned he might think about looking into Eclipse at some point (which is what the students are used to using from 111) :D

So did mine. He was actually part of the huge committee that worked on standardizing Fortran (the F70 standard, IIRC).

Yes, yes, it does. (It's the 72nd column, btw.) Do you have any idea how frustrating and unnerving it is to go from writing a program in C to writing a couple lines in Fortran only to find that it won't compile because your brain dropped that important little note in the cross over?

Or for that matter... having a compiler that inserts A SINGLE CHARACTER tab when you hit enter... -.- I have to space bar over the label and symbol part by hand... which looks the same as the tab it inserts... but then the compiler can't figure out what the heck I'm smoking because the code has started in the middle of a line because the rest is where the label goes as far as it is concerned.

The sad part about this is it could be a lot of fun to do Fortran in a better compiler. XD *imagines inserting ASCII art out past the seventy second column*

I lot of times I just hit reply on a post in the recent posts page and have no idea what thread I'm posting in or what the on-topicness was supposed to be about XD

Now, if only the forum search worked well... :P

YOU GUYS!  BREAKING NEWS!

It was a normal day at work.  It was naptime, and I was doing my everyday "wash-all-the-toys-'cause-toddlers-shove-everything-in-their-mouths-and-God-knows-we-don't-need-any-more-projectile-vomiting-and-green-snot" routine.  I picked up a Weeble.  I scrubbed it.  I rinsed it.  I sanitized it.

This is when most disturbing thing happened.  Look if you dare.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT THAT.  Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!!  I called in four different teachers to see this madness, and none of them could believe their eyes.  It was incredible.  I think the world has been knocked off its axis.  Perhaps the apocolypse is coming?  Either way...a fallen Weeble.  I am aghast. :o

Holy crap!
I wonder if this is related to the UFO I saw earlier.....

Seriously, though, that's pretty astounding. Was it stuck to the table?

Haids1987

No!  I didn't even notice it until I went to pick it up and put it away!  I reached for it, then stared in wonder.  I even picked it up and wiggled it a bit, but it just flopped back over.  I even shook it, in case it was waterlogged.  Nothing!

I swear, some supernatural force is at work here!  It was famous--we have almost 35 women working at my school, and two of them came in at different times to see!  One of them came in and whispered in terror: "Is it true?!"

That's insane.....how weird is that? Maybe it got punched in the face by Chuck Norris.

"Chuck Norris can make Weebles fall down."

Edit: I loled.

It's a thing that wobbles and doesn't fall down.
Well, until today, that is, 'cause Haids just had to go and tear a hole in the universe! *shakes head* ;)

Weebles.

I thought the same thing!  Perhaps we've been naughty and the universe decided to call it quits!  It'll start with the Weebles...slowly it'll move up to Kermit the Frog having a song called "It's not Easy Being Aqua"...until finally men will have to be the childbearers!!  When will all the madness end?!
