I was wondering if anyone on the team has spoken to Peter Spear? I know he at one point had agreed to do a novelization of TSL similar to how he made novels out of the original games, so I was wondering since the game is (according to that magazine article) much smaller now than it was back in 2004-2005 if Mr. Spear's interest in novelizing the game might peak again? He contributed much to the King's Quest world and his efforts were recognized and made canon by Sierra--So I think it would be fitting and pretty cool if he would novelize this game too.

Dude, that would be so incredible!  I would love that!

Having read all of the adventures in the King's Quest Companion, I would really love if Peter Spear did want to pick up his pen again and write about the adventures of The Silver Lining.

Sorry for digging up an ancient thread, but...

In this journal entry (scroll down), Cez mentions that he met with and talked to Peter Spear about novelizing TSL. So will there be a TSL novel?

Wow, that is from way back.

Cez would know better than I would about that. We've had other offers for novelization since Episode 1 came out, though I tend to think it would make sense to wait until the whole game is out for a novelization, for obvious reasons. We don't have any solid plans on that front right now, but it's certainly not ruled out either. :)

The entry made it seem that Mr. Spear was very interested in novelization.

Say and myself met Mr Spears a while back and had lunch with him in a nice Mill Valley italian restaurant. We went to his place and he showed us some incredible stuff he had about all things King's Quest. I haven't talked to him again, but maybe I'll contact him once the episodes are further completed. He was a very nice guy.

Cez, any examples of things you saw?
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

That sounds like an incredible experience. I'm so happy he's receptive of TSL.

Why would you apologize for that? ???

Isn't it a generally frowned-upon practice in an online forum?

And there is a warning that pops up when you try to do so. Don't know that any one really cares all that much here though.

I wish he'd also put out the novelization of MoE he was working on before the publisher canned it.
That would be pretty cool.

kindofdoon

Oh, really? I didn't know he was ever working on that.

Oh, really? I didn't know he was ever working on that.

According to the Omnipedia:

''According to Peter Spear, a 5th edition was in the works, that would have included events of Mask of Eternity. He had been part way through, when the publisher decided to cancel the book for a number of reasons. What had been written was in the form of brain storming notes and scribbles.''

Oh, how cool would a 5th edition be!

Ya, that's what he told me when I got into contact with him once.

I also think he mentioned he has either lurked or possibly even contributed to the Omnipedia. My guess that reference added in to "John the Wanderer" might have been one of the behind the scenes information he added. I haven't been able to "confirm" that detail anywhere else.

How did you manage to contact him? I've found almost nothing online about him.
