Trying to run MoE...I've switched to Windows 95 compatability mode but keep getting this APPCRASH error when I try to run the game.

Any idea how to solve it?

You could try installing Virtual PC and then installing win98 on it, that should work. I haven't tried it myself though.

Is no one going to ask WHY you're trying to run MoE? :P

I did so in another thread! or at least telling her she is silly to do so.

C'mon, guys...  MoE wasn't THAT bad.  It wasn't traditional KQ, definitely, but once you get used to the slightly awkward control scheme it's a fairly solid game.

That said, I -still- mock Connor every time I go back to try and play the game.

'tis beyond my reach.

No, it's a good game (as long as you ignore some of the graphics... like, the graphics for fire? There is NO excuse for that!) it's just not a good King's Quest.

And Connor annoys me. Greatly.

I have fun with Connor. Those goofy quotes, and how Connor reacts really makes me laugh. For a game that was made inn 1998, the graphics are excusable because nobody really knew what to do, it was brand new. He can be viewed as a guinea pig.

XD I'm now imagining Connor as a literal guinea pig going around in armor fighting monsters...

I never played MoE.  I'm more and more convinced this was a good decision the more I read...

It was a fun Adventure game. People just don't like it because it didn't fit well (at all) in the King's Quest world. My sisters and I had lots of fun playing it actually. :suffer:

crayauchtin

Tage, you're dismissed. :P

It was not an adventure game, that was the problem with it. It was an action game.

It was very very different to all of the others in the series...but I loved that it was different, it was the first game I'd played like that (with all the fighting and monsters yet still trying to solve puzzles) and I guess it's why I liked WoW so much.
Plus his voice made me burst into giggles...and there were some good easter eggs that were quite adult-humour related if you knew what to do :P  :suffer:

"What's this? A Celestial Gloooooobe?"

and I'm gonna agree with Tage...I ENJOYED MoE, so sue meh :P (please note, I also enjoyed the other games just as much...even though kq 3 annoyed me with that darn Mananan! >:()

Blah. To be fair, it was an Action Adventure game. Neither of us win. And you can't dismiss me. Muahahahaha!

Yarr, we had this talk before.

MoE ain't a bad game perhaps, just shouldn't be called Kings Quest!  ;)

Honestly, I played a bit of it and was pleasantly surprised. It definitely is a true action-adventure. It's a pretty glitchy game and the graphics are kind of upsetting, but I didn't mind it. The only thing that I was really disturbed by was the fact that you could behead the chickens and watch them run around. It was really gruesome and somewhat terrifying.

I know I was able to run it on WinXP, but it's been a while. I haven't tried on Vista or Win7.

And I didn't mind the "action" part, but that was probably only because I was running it in "god" mode. :P

MoE was a good game, with plenty of puzzles, but it was just too different from the other King's Quest. I mean, my family and I had fun playing it--although, that might have been more for all of the memorable lines.

"'Tis beyond my reach!"

Ooh, and also, if you drank enough water, Connor would burp.

OMG I know, I felt so guilty when I killed a chicken by accident! Although killing the monster who was in the outside toilet was fun to do ;)

Tis truly a glitchy game! I ran into a nasty bug once in which my only choice was to start over. I've since acquired a patch that supposedly fixes it, but I've yet to play it since....
