It's not a Four Winds thing just yet, but the Four Winds is 'printing' it in anticipation of covering the event itself in an upcoming article :)

(And eventually it will appear on an FW-style page)

Hmm I seem to recall that proclamation was in the original Four Winds wasn't it?

Ya, issue #2.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Yeah--as I said somewhere else in here, The Four Winds will be a mix of old articles, new articles, and edited versions of old articles.

Extra, extra!

Connor MacLyrr, peasant turned noble hero, was knighted and made Daventry's Captain of the Guard--and the Four Winds has the exclusive coverage! Read all about it!

It should technically be "Connor mac Lyrr", and/or "Connor Mac Lyrr". See InterAction, Fall 1996, for an example of the former. http://www.sierragamers.com/uploads/24082/Interaction/028_InterAction_Volume_9_Number_3_Fall_1996.pdf

This is Nifty, Royal Heir.

Nah, it just means your artist referenced MOE's "art design", at least in part.

It's what he was shown wearing in the Banquit hall portrait.

As for Connor mac Lyrr, I only really have the citation for that spelling. So I can't confirm if it was ever spelled, "Connor Mac Lyrr". I don't have time to go out and look through the source to see for sure. I think the name was technically dropped from his name during the development process, so as a last  name it may not be fully canon, per se. About as official as any other prototype material that was cut.

I was joking about the hat, Baggins.  :P

As for his last name, well, we're going with MacLyrr.

Ya, there is one of the alternate, Connor Mac Lyrr spelling in CGW magazine (1998). Thought I read it at least somewhere. I wonder if it showed up in a later issue of InterAction under that spelling.

In anycase I've now updated the Connor article on the Omnipedia, to better point out that he was only referred to Connor in the official release. Unless someone has official source published during the game's release, which still states his name as Mac Lyrr, mac Lyrr, MacLyrr, or even macLyrr, I would so appreciate it.

The TLS article section, will continue to call him "Connor MacLyrr"

Also does anyone anywhere have an archive of the original Mask of Eternity website (its not on internet arhive)? I'm sure its "The Story" article would be interesting to read. To see if it gave a deeper background for Connor beyond what we saw in the game.

Are you talking about this?
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

You got the load screen then it crashes after that,, for me.
The original site, was www.sierra.com/mask. It had a reddish color background, and one of the tabs was "The Story. You can see a screen grab in the above Fall 1996 issue of Interaction I posted a link to.

Ya, that's getting me in. Different site though. Shame I can't get into the classic link. The one with the red background. Would be helpful for development history.

But thanks for this link just the same. its very helpful.

Yeah...I'm guessing a hotlink is programmed into the flash animation and therefore breaks the Wayback Machine if you let it play out.

Castle Daventry never had Spriggans, the Old Castle Keep was the one with the spriggans ;).
