11 DAYS!!

To truly know where you're going, it's important to remember where you've been. We'll be recapping all of the King's Quest that were published by Sierra Online for fans new and old between now and Release Day to catch you up or remind you of what's come before.

Our trip down memory lane starts with a kingdom called Daventry, a kingdom that has fallen on hard times....

Although, I thought it was the Mirror of Merlin and Shield of Achilles.... oh well, those names work too!

So they were! Good catch--I'll go fix that.

Speaking of which.... I've been looking for a chest that is always full of gold, if anyone happens to find one- please let me know.   ;D  No worries.... there is plenty to go around i'm sure.

KatieHal, I just read your summary of KQI and found it very helpful and informative.

However, you kept using "it's" instead of "its" (for example, "it's once peaceful borders", "it's wielder impervious").

I know it's picky, but can you possible change this?

Thanks.

Haha, not at all, my editorial background is hanging its head in shame. ;) I'll go fix 'em.

You edit so many things in a day, they all start blurring before you at some point!

And a shout-out, while I am at it, to Waltz, Cat, and Oberonqa--they did a lot of the work on getting these recaps together, helping out with writing them, doing some editing on them, filling in spots some of us had forgotten about. So a big thank you to them for making these summaries possible!

Hey, thanks a lot! I appreciate it!  ;D

I'm really looking forward to reading more of these useful summaries, because I've only played through KQVI.

As I've said before....it's all just one big book, and each game is just a chapter in it.
Look forward to reading. It should make for some good reads.

*bows* Thank you, thank you. We are so glad to be able to provide this for you guys. Let me tell you, the excitement in the background as we all worked on this...YAY!

I can't remember who did the first few. I know Waltz did several of the last ones. I just did editing (want to be clear and give credit where credit is due).

David wrote the first few. I did mostly editing and touching up on these as well. Those two were champs--Waltz even replayed a number of the games to be sure she knew what happened in them!

Yea, I wrote the summaries for KQ1-3, and Waltz wrote the summaries for KQ4-8.

Thanks for the recap, Oberonqa. It's helpful.

Not a problem.  I love this series with all my heart... and getting a chance to write some of the recaps was an opportunity to pay homage to the series I grew up with.  I didn't even have to replay KQ1-3 to write these recaps by the way... I know the first 3 games by heart.  KQ4 is where I start to get a little shaky... thankfully Waltz picked things up and went to town on them and her recaps are truly great.  I can't wait to see them posted.  :)

QuoteMirror of Merlin and Shield of Achilles

Well, actually its Merlin's Mirror, and Shield of Achille (this is a fact that originated in the King's Quest Companion, and brought up in the official KQ6 and KQ7 strategy guides). I think its only been referred to as the "Shield of Achilles" a single time in the An Encyclopedia of Daventry (1st and 2nd edition of the Companion).

In the original KQ1, and most of the games they are simply known as the magic mirror (the Mirror), the magic shield (the Shield), and 'the Chest' of gold.

BTW, while its nice to have a screenshot of the unofficial AGDI version of KQ1, wouldn't it be a good idea to add screen shots of the official versions of the games (AGI and SCi versions?) to honor the heritage of the series.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Well, I was pretty close...

...Baggins, do you frequent the KQ Omnipedia? I think I've seen you there...

Ya, I'm one of the admins there, and most of the other Sierra related wikis :). Glad to have you there.

Well, I'm not necessarily *there*. I mean, I have an account on there, I think... though I don't remember the password.

But yeah, I go on there often. I wouldn't know half of the stuff I know about King's Quest without it.
