Asking for any sort of information on these forums from a TSL insider is only asking for  :suffer: .

But of course, I'm really happy to hear the news about the Williams. It's really phenomenal.

Yea that pretty mich sums it up quite nicely.  However, I will say that it was great reading Roberta's thoughts about TSL.  I cannot say anymore... but when the time is right all will be revealed.  :)

You would think so, but then again, the TSL guys love to hold out!

It seems like from the newsletter released last evening, Roberta is quite humbled and excited about this group of talent picking up the reigns and bringing the story back to life. I for one, am looking forward to what's ahead in the coming episodes, as well as reading everything that both Roberta and Ken had to say about this amazing game.

Her response is fantastic.

Now, the question (and I suppose this is more for Baggins, our resident expert on canon!) -- the fact that Roberta Williams said this is "truly what happens to the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Daventry" -- does that sort of make this the unofficially official sequel? Is TSL canonized?

How, people view the game is up to each individual, really.

Roberta, technically doesn't work for Activision, so like she said back during the MOE Talkspot, it's a series that belongs to "Sierra" (or at this point activision), and no longer up to her decision, and "official games" would have to be made by 'Sierra'. So that kinda muddles the issue.

However, I think we can all agree that this is a spiritual successor to the series :).

It certainly does follow after previous King's Quest games in as much that it contains several inconsistencies and contradictions to previous games or other official material in the series. In this way it also fits along side other fan submissions as the Romancing the Stones and To Heir is Human VGA, for having inconsistencies with other parts of the series (including the companion).

BTW, I mean that in extreme tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Maybe it's time for a new companion that uses the fan submissions.....

I volunteer! :D

It's called the King's Quest Omnipedia, we allow submissions from any source, including fan fiction stories ;).

I believe Baggins has just issued a challenge -- everyone who's interested should submit their own novelizations to the KQ Omnipedia.

Afterwards, we will hold a vote here on the TSL forums to see who's is the best!

Yep, just remember to categorize them under [[Category:Fan fiction]]. There are a handful there already. Including two alternate King's Quest IX type storylines, LOL. ...and King's Quest X, and King's Quest XI,  :suffer: :suffer: :suffer:

Whoever wins should get a signed copy of TSL boxart poster thingy ;)

I believe very strongly that TSL is both the spiritual successor of the King's Quest series and the proper conclusion to it. Think of it: What better way for one of the most famous and beloved adventure games of all time to go out than by it's fans? It's been a long time coming, but the conclusion of King Graham's story is at hand. Now, that doesn't rule out the possibility of a spin-off game series involving another royal family somewhere else in the world...

For just this episode or when the whole game is out?
