That's correct - 1PM PST does seem to carry some significance to the TSL team.

It's a time when we are all available to work out any bugs we might run into and also to make sure that that the site doesn't crash. As well as answer any of your questions.

UTC isn't a timezone!   It is the Coordinated Universal Time, quite close to (but not exactly) GMT. everytime zone is an offset of UTC, so instead of mentioning time in a different timezones it is much easier to just state the UTC since everyone knows their offset anyways *nod*nod* At least, if you talk to an international crowd, if you only want to reach people in a certain area local time is more logical I suppose.

My offset is currently GMTY-7 but the thing that you got to take into account is that it changes with Daylight Savings Time.

I actually made a "what time will the game be released" thread days and days before ALL of you did.  So there.

Also, 9pm GMT?  

Disappointing, but I guess I'll have to play it on Sunday.  It'll give me time to continue my trawl through the first seven games.

We decided to do that date so that everyone in the worlds receives it during what would still be, officially, the weekend.

Also, like Waltz said, we are all around for when the server explodes, etc lol

But worry not, we have about 20 mirrors hosting the file. We are not hosting it ourselves, we'll save our bandwidth for the actual traffic!

yours is -3:30 GMT
difference is 4hrs 30 mins.

so 1 PM in PST is 5:30 PM for you

Hahaha darn i was hoping for a 12am PST release tonight to help curb the stress that will hit the servers in the middle of the day on Saturday when most people are off. Def was hoping to get home from the bar tonight and download but oh well I'm just happy to be finally getting to play a game i have been following for 8 years. By far the longest i have ever followed a game. What a journey and I'm not even involved with anything that it took to make this game. Once again Congrats.

A midnight PST time release is not realistic. Many on the development live on the east coast so it would very late for them. Besides, we like to see your reactions and hear your excitement build as the hours come closer.

Because that's very late.
Plus, as has been mentioned before (might have been in another thread), they want to be fully available to address bugs and issues that may come up at release, and being half-asleep as the night drags on isn't conducive to that.
Is it really that much of a problem to wait a few more hours, though? I'm confident that the team planned this at the best possible time.
