As the teller at fault, I extend my apologies. It was three years or more since I last saw the film and I recalled only the fairy tale aspects, not the grim gory war story aspects. (I have to add that I have recently seen worse! If you can believe it... though thankfully, we turned that move off after the first fifteen minutes (which included the gouging out of an eye ::)).)

QuoteI was told it was a 'fun' film

Uh... no. Not really.

Well - having said that, I thought it was very enjoyable. But then I do err towards the macabre.

Quotewe turned that move off after the first fifteen minutes (which included the gouging out of an eye)

Shakespeare got there first, ha! Onstage, as well! (Sorry, random moment of Bard fandom.)

QuoteSo your queen is also the scout then?

King Lear is not my favourite play. :P In part for this reason. :P

I decided that since Lijar had made peace with France, it couldn't be so very terrible or hostile. :P

Yes, I hate Irfanview. ::) I accidentally rotated it the wrong way and decided to just flip it upside down rather than pressing the button two more times. ::)

Ah, I did wonder about that.

The hat is very civilised! It seems the sort of hat people wear to garden parties or to centres of cultural significance. Your flowing autumnal hair complements it nicely - also, I can see why this was your previous avatar:

Yay, somebody got the reference!  ;D If you think Lear is bad, you should see Titus Andronicus. "What's that my dear? I can't make out what you're trying to say because your tongue has been cut out. You want to carry my severed hand but both your own hands have been cut off so you'll have to pick it up with your teeth? Why, yes, that would be very helpful, especially since I have my hands full with these severed heads." I am not joking, this is how Act III scene i ends.

And people say Shakespeare is boring...  ::)

That's the spirit! You can kill as many people as you like as long as it's fictional!

Ah, so the person in the picture isn't you?  :!Oops: In that case, my hair comment makes no sense at all.

On the other hand, I did finally get a chance to use the :!Oops: smiley, so it's swings and roundabouts.

No, no... the person pictured is indeed regina nostra, our queene. I believe she is referring to the person whom she was visiting.

Brandon: and that's just an awesome charge to have on your record
me: All right. :P
But you'll probably get pardoned. :P
Brandon: oh really?
lowers his voice to a whisper and speaks parenthetically (mais oui... you see, I know the queene...)

Doesn't everyone say that? :P
Brandon: say what? that they know the queene?
me: Yes. :P
Brandon: hmph... well, I know her better than they :P

I don't know, I think the scorch marks add a nice touch. They give the place a sort of "lived in" feel. :P

[It is the 30th of December, 1170 AD. Scene: Interior, Canterbury Cathedral. There are two clerics here.]

CLERIC 1: Well... that's that, then.

CLERIC 2: Poor Archbishop Becket... To end like that... All over the walls and floor, too...

CLERIC 1: We really should clean his blood off the stones of this holy cathedral, where hundreds of people kneel and worship each day.

CLERIC 2: I think the blood gives it a sort of... you know, lived in feel. Cosy.  ;)
