Actually thats quite an interesting question ;D, seeing that the other 3D Adventure games these days are keyboard operated :-\

Welcome, O Dumbly Named One! XD Perhaps there will be a combo between using the mouse and the keyboard? Maybe if you want to walk around with the arrow keys, I dunno.

Eh... as long as it's optional. I vastly prefer moving with the mouse. The keyboard-based movement in Grim Fandango and MI4 was something I found rather frustrating. :P

[shadow=teal,left,down]Welcome to the forum, The_dumbest_name!!  ;D[/shadow]

Jeysie -
Walking with the arrow keys wasn't the most frustrating part of Grim Fandango... using the letter keys for preforming actions was. I could never figure out which one does what, and finished the game pressing all of them until I found the correct one every time  ::)

Controlling Grim Fandango was awkward at first, but I became used to the controls after five minutes of experimentation in Manny's office at the beginning. Great, great game, that.

It was hard to find out which objects you could collect :-\, cos you couldnt just click :(, you had to look around and hit enter when you thought you could pick something up :-\

Ah, but if you just press Enter when he turns his head, you miss so many funny lines. I prefer to look at the object first (E) before picking it up (Enter, P).

Not to diss Storm, but I found the action keys to usually be easy to keep track of, just because most of them were pretty logical... I for Inventory, U for Use item, P for Pick up or Put away, E for Examine, etc. Of course, I ended up just mapping them to my gamepad anyway. ;) And I do have the advantage of one, being a native English speaker, and two, having spent many an afternoon as a rugrat messing around with text adventures. ;D

The directional controls were a bit easier to handle with my gamepad, but I still didn't like them much. Certainly not compared to Gabriel Knight 3's control methods, for instance.

What kind of gamepad do you have? I need one of those. ;)

I have a Logitech Wingman RumblePad. It's a nice little controller, decent design, good amount of buttons, and wasn't too expensive. I'm not sure if they sell the exact same model anymore, though... I bought it a few years ago. Still, Logitech's a good brand. I have a Logitech keyboard and mouse, too. :)

I love my Belkin Nostromo n45 and n50 keypad and gamepad.  They are totally mappable and are rugged as all get out.  The responsiveness is excellent as well.

I have tried a lot of joysticks and joypads in the past (from Microsoft, Cybex and Logitech) and I have found these to be the best.

I use the n50 keypad for 1st person shooters (along with my trackball) and I use the n50 for pretty much everything else (I love using it for flight games, like Freelancer).

Best of all, for their quality, I think they're well priced.
