In that case, you probably remember a scene where Alhazred was writing a letter to a member of the Black Cloaks by the name of Shadrack. Shadrack is the villain in this game. I think the TSL team is even assuming that Shadrack was the leader of the Black Cloaks, which is a very common non-canonical assumption.

Or you might remember the letter in the chest in Alhazred's room by Shadrack.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I agree, that is the only villain that comes to mind.  I'm curious to know what Shadrack has against graham and his family.....  Aside from the destruction and defeat of many of his black cloak friends/underlings.

It's not much of a theory because it's already been discussed by the developers, but he's probably linked to the prophecy, I'm sure. Mordack, Manannan, and Hagatha were related, so even though they were a part of the Black Cloak Society, their vengeance was more personal. Alhazred had plans for Cassima, and Alexander had foiled his plot. Shadrack seems to be the only one who isn't connected outside of the Black Cloak Society, so it's hard to tell why he wants to hurt the royal family.

I do have one theory for why he was after Alexander. Now that a majority (I'm assuming) of the Black Cloak members are disposed of, Shadrack may be trying to awaken an evil presence in Alexander. Alexander seems to be the only main character that has practiced dark magic in the series. I just feel uneasy about the place that Alexander went to in his dreams, and the fact that he has a history with the dark magic. But I'm probably wrong.  :-\

Certainly some interesting thoughts there, even if they turn out to be incorrect!  That would be quite the plot development.  Kudos for coming up with that possible twist.  I too am interested in Alexanders dark dream.  The landscape seemed slightly reminiscent of Ooga Booga land.  Just another observation, however unlikely it may be.

I finally found the concept art from the old TSL site that I was looking for! This is the "dark stranger" (called "Ranger" on the site)

I'm sure I saw more concept art of this character, but I cannot locate it at the moment.

I guess Graham invited the King of Gondor to his wedding as well.   ;D

He wasn't invited, just observing.

Just a party crasher in general, I mean did you see how many happy gatherings he brought down in the movies?  Practically every time he shows up people get depressed and start fighting and / or dieing.

I thought he looked like the desert wanderer ghost from KQ VII.  Not that I think the dark stranger is the desert wanderer.  Just thought they looked alike.

Part of me wonders if this is Alexander.  The Arch Druid talked about Graham needing to go into the land of dreams to reach his children.  Doesn't seem too far fetched to think that it goes both ways and Alexander could be trying to make contact in the real world.  I'm not sure why, if that's the case, he doesn't reveal himself.  But maybe he can't actually interact since he's not really there.  Or maybe I'm just wrong.  That could be it too...

The more theories we create, the more likely one of us will be right. But they could throw a curve ball, and then we're all wrong, that's always a possibility. They'll pull a J. J. Abrams, and the whole family will find out that the Isle of Wonder has a strange magnetic field in the center of the island, and then a big crab monster will tear down Daventry. I'm calling it now.  ;)

Sorry but you're wrong, it's actually a lobster monster.  So close though.

Just when I was finally able to repress the memory of that horrific finale, Lost has forced itself back into my life!  Oh well.  I bet Cassima is Alexander's constant!

And silly me, I assumed the three headed shadow looming over Alexander during the ending animation was the three headed dragon.  Clearly it was the shadow of a lobster head and two lobster claws!  Don't I feel stupid!

Kate, I like your new picture! I'm really excited to explore CBL!

You and me both!  That was the one disappointment I had when I first played Kings Quest VI.  I wanted to visit chessboard land!  It's about time those knights let humans in!
