Erik, look out!  A POIsonous snake!

And you're right, Haids isn't scary enough.  In fact, it's just a nickaname--what my family has called me since I was a baby.  It's a play off of "Hailey." ;P

Ravager? Another Bioware fan? Cool! Ever play Jade Empire? It got smashed between Revan and Shepherd, but it's a cute little game with their usual flair for characters and mythology.

Though after dealing with Mass Effect and Dragon Age...well, the latter, I'm not playing again. When you're relieved that your character will die in the final battle, it's not really a good sign. Ugh. I needed the old Sierras to wash the taste out of my mouth.

I'm also no fan of the second KOTOR. It felt like a waste of time, even after I went through, modded, and patched in as much of the mess on the cutting room floor as I could manage. No matter what you did, you were screwed.

As the pic indicates, I'm as big a fan of Space Quest as I am King's Quest. I am also a big fan of Black and White, Pirates, Civilization (especially Civ 2), and a collection of really old games called Windham Classics (text adventure adaptations of classic novels).

Ouch. What were your problems with Dragon Age? It was one of my favorite games released recently. :P

It's funny how you find you enjoy your life when you're happy to be alive.

It was their usual brand of brilliance with the writing, the setting, and gameplay...but the setting itself was so depressing, so relentlessly hopeless, that I was quickly wondering why in hell I should save it at all. The mages and the church were crooked and power thirsty, the nobility was anything but, and the Dwaven city was a case of no good deed going unpunished. You're literally having the drink demon blood to power up.

And Morrigan's "last ditch offer?" Gee, I wouldn't trust you with a house plant, much less a kid. Power of an Old God, you say? Raised by your 'loving care?' Absolutely no idea what the do when the kid grows up? We've seen this crap before. It's called Bhaalspawn. I'm not authorizing the creation of Jon Irenicus the Second.

Hand me the knife. If the Archdemon doesn't kill me, I'm slitting my wrists anyway.

Loved Jade Empire! Personally, I think it's one of their bests. The characters interact just SO well together... and that god of the forge guy (the genius engineer fellow) is hilarious!. My only complaint is the RPG elements were a little shallow.

For some reason, I remember enjoying this one more than the first (by a small amount.) I can't really put my finger on why. I think maybe I liked the main villain more.

Also, Bioware didn't make KOTOR II, that was Obsidian. In fairness to them, the unfinished state of the game was apparently the doing of LucasArts, who insisted on a Holiday 2004 release.
Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But Doctor...I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.

To name a few that I've recently played again:

- Monkey Island 1 & 2
- X-wing / Tie Fighter
- Gabriel Knight: Sins of the fathers
- Warcraft / Starcraft
- Bioshock 1
- Syndicate
It seems totally incredible to me now that everyone spent that evening as though it were just like any other. From the railway station came the sound of shunting trains, ringing and rumbling, softened almost into melody by the distance ...

Any RTS fans here? Age of Empires series, Age of Mythology, Rise of Nations, etc.

I've found myself playing anything that has a good story. It doesn't matter if it's an FPS, RPG, RTS, or any other three-lettered acronym. I'm really particular to the story, cause it is what is keeping me interested in the game. I couldn't care less about Achievements or my online stats for Capture the Flag.

For instance, I loved Warcraft 3, but can't stand playing games like Command and Conquer. I'm even disappointed in Starcraft 2, even though I liked the first one. I liked Resistance 2 for it's story, but couldn't get into Killzone 2 or Halo. I like Half-Life, but don't like Team Fortress. I probably ended up playing World of Warcraft for its story too (I actually enjoyed the story elements in the raids). I like most RPGs, like any 'Tales of' game, Final Fantasy (although XIII was a tad disappointing), and Kingdom Hearts. So for me, I can't really narrow down a genre, or even a series, because I'm mostly focused on the plot of the game.

I'm actually just now finally working on playing Final Fantasy IX, I had a copy forever and ever ago and just never got around to playing it, but it recently came out on PSN and so I'm slowly working my way through it.  I hardly play anything but TSL these days, but sometimes you gotta take a break from playing one game to play something else.  I'm also really looking forward to the new Metroid game that's coming out next month and have a bunch of other stuff pre-ordered that was shown at E3.  I like the Professor Layton games on DS.  I really liked Heavy Rain on PS3.  I did finish Final Fantasy XIII despite the fact that the music had a strong tendency to put me to sleep.  I like the Kingdom Hearts series except for the card-based ones.  I like some of the Silent Hill games.  I like the Tales series a lot, especially Tales of Eternia on PSP.  Demon's Souls was both fun and extremely infurating at the same time.

I'm rambling, goodnight.

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite Final Fantasy so far. I got all three of the Final Fantasy PSone classics off the PSN. I want to go through them again, cause it's been awhile since I beat them. But still, to this day, FFIX was the best. I like the fact that they retracted from their typical post-modern or futuristic setting (I think FFIX's setting would be considered pre-industrial). Also, there wasn't one character in the group that annoyed me. Another high point to this installment in the series.

FFIX was the first one I ever finished! ....actually, it's still the only one, now that I think about it.

I think that's the thing that kept me from IX originally - the first Final Fantasy game I ever played was VII, then naturally I picked up VIII, and then IX was so different from those two I couldn't stand it at first.  Since that time I've gone back and played all of the earlier ones and now I get the appeal of IX so much better.  I think the only Final Fantasy game I haven't played now is X-2.
