Also have a soft spot for Girl In The Tower.

Really? It seemed awkwardly contemporary to me - at odds with the rest of the fantastic, timeless, story.

Everyone has their own opinion :) I'm a sucker for cheesy love songs and it fits the description.

KQ6 is a given for me; the atmosphere, the soundtrack (which I blasted on my iPod and shamelessly whistled along to while walking to town the other day), the characters, the story...  Everything is perfect about it.

I like KQ7 (again, great soundtrack), since it got me back into the series after it was long lost in my mind as a little kid.  It was one of two pieces of software (the other was an interactive encyclopaedia) that came with our first PC.

Despite never having completed it before (I've shamefully only completed three of the KQ games, but watched the rest on YouTube and loved them!), I have recently totally fallen in love with KQ3, if only for the opening scene.  The music just sets the atmosphere perfectly and the story is really gripping.  I can only imagine the controversy Gwydion caused when he was the protagonist instead of Graham (who confusingly stayed rather yellow for this game!).

Just out of curiosity Mango, why did you only complete three of the games? Did you not have them or just couldn't find the time to complete them?

Awww, I love Girl in the Tower!  So nostalgic.  I like the version that plays within the game better than the actual version, though.  Like when Alex and Cassie are talking through the wall. :)

I like the piano version in game. The sung ballad is what I don't like. To me, it felt like being smacked with mundane Earth music after I'd been voyaging all over the most spectacular realms I'd ever seen.

Only time I ever listen to it is when it gets stuck in my head, its very good at that. ;P

That's the one I prefer, too.  But the ballad is so cheesy it's awesome.  ;D

Well, I can't use any sort of logic to argue here, so I'll just leave it at that.

I do own all of them (including MoE, but ain't completing that).  I have one of the KQ collections (the 1 - 6 one), KQ6 on its own, the 2006 KQ Collection, and KQ7 on its own.  More than covered!

I actually completed KQ1, KQ6 and KQ7, although I plan to rectify my lack of KQ2 - 5 in the future.  KQ5 felt too slow-paced to me but I do want to persevere with it.  The time limits in KQ3 and 4 make me unnervy (although I yesterday started a game of the former on my old laptop and managed to get Manannan to go on a journey, so may continue with that), and KQ2 I have little reason for not completing besides ascare I had involving the game as a kid.

Also, KQVI iPodders are SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Help me out guys, but KQ4 doesn't have a time limit, as such, does it? I mean, it goes from day to night only when you've completed everything you need to.

...We'll, I guess you have a time limit in the whale, but that's not much.  ::)

There actually IS a time limit in KQ4, but it's very lenient. I think every 20 minutes of real life time is an hour of game time. I know if you wait long enough, night will come, and if you wait 24  in game-hours, Graham and Genesta will die. It takes so long though, there's no real need to hurry.

I had no idea! That makes sense though. I believe I remember my folks playing the game once and having it 'night time' without having done certain things. Wouldn't this allow you to get 'stuck' terminally?
