So a couple hours ago... I decided to search Kings Quest for the heck of it (being a huge fan)... I feel very betrayed at the moment.

How on earth were you guys able to pull together such a great game and I have no idea about it!!!

Awesome job... I had alot of work to do tonight... but forgot about it ALL while installing and playing through it in one shot.

loved it all. great job!!!!! do you guys have a donate button or something... i feel bad experiencing this for free lol.

Also... i am sure this is posted in another thread but win7 default vid card drivers suck... i was so confused why the game wasn't opening till i downloaded new ones.

Hey Rebel welcome to the forums, and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the game.  I fully agree about the Windows 7 default video drivers - they don't cooperate with OpenGL stuff at all so they cause all kinds of problems for any games that use OpenGL.

We don't have any kind of donation system set up, as we are required to be doing this for free by Activision - they own the Intellectual Property rights to the King's Quest series so we do what they say or they can shut us down.  We all enjoy the series quite a bit and are very happy to see this project finally coming to full fruition.

I'm glad you discovered the game and hope you'll hang around the forums - we have a great community here and you'll be able to catch announcements as the coming episodes get finished and released.

makes sense... i sort of downloaded and played through fast and didn't know much about the development history. I just read up on it some... damn C&D sucks...

How do you finance all this? even just maintaining the site\hosting\servers and the crazy amount of people in the credits.... everyone do this in their spare time i assume?

and just to put this out there... i have seen some borderline negative comments on some posts (esp on release times)... cut these guys some slack they are doing a lot as it is...

Yep everything is just being done in people's spare time on a totally voluntary basis so we're all very happy whenever we reach major milestones and we're really motivated right now to get our next episode done so a lot of things are being accomplished.

After everything Phoenix Online has been through, they will have to owe themselves a well-deserved break once all of the episodes are out.

I'll personally end up playing through the entire game multiple times for the story. My favorite King's Quest was KQ6, and I've only played through that 4 times. I intend to surpass that with my playthroughs of TSL.

Thanks for the kind words, rebel. This was a hard game for me to find as well. I'm glad you really liked it and got it to work on your computer. We hope you stick around on the forums as you wait for the next part of the story.

If you really feel compelled to pay them, you can stick around for a few years and buy their next game Corridor 9 when it comes out. I'm sure that's what a lot of people are doing. :P

I really hope it doesn't take that long to get C9 out.  That's going to be a commercial project so we'll be able to actually pay people to focus more on that rather than just pitching in at random times.  We should be able to get it finished and available a lot more quickly than TSL.
