I like it, Doon. It's done so well. Looks like a Kings Quest game but with a little fresh twist.

I'd agree that the Games for Windows banner would be perfectly appropriate if all PC games had it. But not all PC games do have it. And I personally can't stand Microsoft's Windows Live system. Actually, I plain just can't stand most anything Microsoft related period :P. The banner is just so bright and vibrant and takes away a lot of the beauty of the cover design in my eyes. That's partly why I like the classier look because it's the pure unadulterated cover artwork without much of anything overlapping it. Now we've got game developer, publisher, and other company logos, age rating, DVD-ROM designation, PC designation, and Games for Windows plastered all over it covering the greatness. To me I think there's a line between looking authentic and making something that looks good. Most game artwork nowadays isn't very good because they can't really design very much because of all the mandatory logos that need to go everywhere.

I understand your point, and it's certainly valid. My intention was to produce an insert that looked contemporary among other modern video games covers - thus I modeled mine after "Crysis" and "Bionic Commando" for PC. I think I'll make a more pure version of the insert at some point.

Either way, don't misunderstand me. It's an excellent job you've done here :).

Looks good . . .

Wasn't that taken from another DVD case image ??
It seems totally incredible to me now that everyone spent that evening as though it were just like any other. From the railway station came the sound of shunting trains, ringing and rumbling, softened almost into melody by the distance ...

Yes it was. There was another fan who made a DVD insert a few years ago, and he used that image for the front cover.

Ugh. If it weren't for the immensely ugly "Games For Windows" bar at the top, I'd say it was perfect. Otherwise, it is very nice. Great job! But I'd prefer a more classic look like these:

King's Quest Collection
Day of the Tentacle

I noticed that these images are hosted on your website and appear to be fan-made. Did you make them? if so, did you manually generate the blue background?

Forgot it isn't quite finished yet. Edited the legal stuff from one of other older covers which I messed up on and need to fix. And I put it in Nero Cover Designer which I'm still trying to figure out, like how to get rid of the white lines in the center it put there.

EDIT: Fixed front to be on the right side. :P

kindofdoon

I like it very much. Just one question: why is the cover on the left side?

Lol! Because I wasn't paying attention. XD I'll go fix that now. :P

That's better! I like what you did with the loopy pattern on the front side.

Wow, Tess' DVD insert is pretty epic. It's mainly cause of the more recent artwork and screenshots, methinks. I like the effort that was put into Doon's cover, but there's a reason why the picture on the cover of Tess' DVD insert was set as my desktop background. Great jobs on both sides, but I like both covers for different reasons.  :-\

That's awesome Doon; I'm going to have to print this out.

MusicallyInspired, would you mind if I used your King's Quest Collection and DoTT inserts for my own cases? Those are pretty sweet as well.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Yeah - that's been the desktop background on my laptop since shortly after I started beta testing. :)

Wow! Both of these are great! !!!

Thanks. I like the way yours wraps around the side and merges with the back.
