That's true as well. The adversity has only provided more press and publicity. If TSL was released in 2005, its fanbase would most likely be isolated to hardcore KQ fans. I think the coverage of TSL in mainstream sources like CNN and other gaming sites has greatly widened the fanbase, so the 2010 release will hit a much larger audience.

At the same time, it's really raised expectations - a lot of people seem to be judging it by commercial standards. The pressure is on! I think the team are up to it!

My expectations rely mostly on the story. Puzzles are fun too, and I like adventure games that stump me, but nothing beats a great story. And based on the fact that the game was originally nine chapters, I don't think I will be disappointed.

No, you won't! :D That's another issue - a lot of people are judging the game on technical criteria (e.g. Graham's walk animation) and gameplay (which is extremely limited in Episode 1), but I think the real strength of the game is the story. Though I'm pretty impressed by the technical/art stuff, too!

Well, after 8 years, I think there's a tendency to expect something really polished and completely awesome, so little nitpicks catch the eye more.
For my part, though, I criticized a few things (like Graham's walk) so that they could possibly be revisited and tweaked if the team had the time/inclination to do so, and I'm sure there were others who felt the same way.
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!
