I caught the latest installment of the film adaptation of this popular video game series and I must say that I was impressed.  It had great visual effects, creepy yet fun music, and an interesting filming style to match the 3D version though I saw it in 2D.  I'm sort of an old fashioned guy I guess.   :D  Anyways, this one is worth seeing at the box office if you're up for action/thriller movies.

I want to go see it, but haven't had time yet.  Glad to hear that you liked it, it's not getting extremely good reviews, but I've liked the films so far so I've definitely been planning to catch this one.

The trailer had some very slick visuals.

Are the movies following the storyline of the games, or are they original adaptations to the series?

This recent installment is closer to the games than the previous 3 movies.  The storyline went off on a tangent since the first one so it never truly followed the storyline of the games.  There are some story elements in the movies that are present in the games but the storyline is somewhat original.

I was looking forward to see this one. Usually I am not a fan of zombieslashing movies at all, but I really like the Resident Evil series.
