The strangest death I've seen so far is:

Spoiler (mouse over to reveal):
I managed to avoid every death in Episode 2 (a rarity for me in adventure games) except that one. I thought
Spoiler (mouse over to reveal):
Pretty amusing death, though. :)
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

Sierra is known for putting amusing deaths in their games, and I think that the whole team has done a rather excellent job of preserving that quality.

Agreed!
You know, there's something that's been bothering me for a little while. At the Isle of the Sacred Mountain, Graham dives into the water and swims to the beach. In KQ6, however, if you try to walk out the same distance that he swims, you get caught in the currents and drown. What's with that?

Well, several things could have changed. For one, time has passed between the two games. Perhaps the seas just didn't like Alexander that particular day? Or perhaps it was part of some ancient magic spell that was cast that anyone not given express permission from the crown would die in the water or something. It is entirely possible that Shamir made the waters unpassable for Alexander. Besides, the ferry was dry-docked (I can't actually remember why. I want to say it was because the water got too rough, but it's been quite a long time since I've actually played the game...) In any case, the explanations are numerous. Whether the game itself (or any of the promotional material) has an explanation is something I obviously can't tell you... :suffer: You'll just have to wait and see... And by that, I mean I honestly have NO idea if there's any official explanation.

Perhaps, but the only problem with that theory is that in TSL, Graham does die if he jumps off the dock on the Isle of the Crown, just like Alexander does. And if he walks into the water off the shore of the Isle of Wonder, he's also grabbed by the current and drowned.
Besides, the ferry was dry-docked (I can't actually remember why. I want to say it was because the water got too rough, but it's been quite a long time since I've actually played the game...)
That's because it became too dangerous to travel when the islands started feuding. Alhazred ordered the dry dock.

LOL, there was a shockingly long discussion of it before, yes. The answer is the current is as strong and swift as the plot demands. ;)

Graham is a better swimmer!

I tell you, that Alexander was dumb....

You can't certainly blame him though. The only place where he could swim was in the chicken's water bucket!

Which reminds me... didn't he swim a ridiculously long distance in KQ3 or am I mixing my Sierra games? If he did... where the hell did he learn to swim? I can't imagine Manannan taking him for long walks on the beach :)

Well, he did sneak out frequently while Manannan went on his little excursions. Perhaps he learned how to swim in small bursts from sneaking out? Who knows...

He swims ashore from the Pirate ship, but it's only a screen or two if you play it correctly and wait til "land ho" before casting the sleep spell.  :)

I thought he swam from the pirate ship to the nearest shore. He also was swimming from far out in the ocean if I remember correctly. Maybe he knew how to swim, but ever since he acquired his rightful place as the Prince of Daventry, he forgot how to swim. Or perhaps slave clothes are easier to swim in, than his royal getup.

I believe it was two screens, and two screens are relatively larger in comparison to the few feet that he treads unto his abyssal death in KQ6.

Not because he's a bad swimmer though.  It's pretty strongly implied in KQ6 that the Green Isles' ocean currents/rip tides are magically enhanced by Alhazared's Shamir to make them extra treacherous.  I'm content to accept that without Alhazared ordering Shamir to cause the tides to be deadly, characters like Graham are able to wade out a bit further in the water in certain areas.
