Does anyone know what would happen if you deleted the "Temporary Internet Folder", would you completely screw up Windows or would it automatically be replaced with another folder ???

I think I've done it before and that's what happened.  Usually I just delete the contents though and not the whole folder.

It's better if you delete the files from your browser instead of deleting the folder directly.

I don't think any browser allows you to delete the folder itself. Anyway, never had any problems with deleting files, and I always do it in Windows Explorer. 8)

I use the browser, because I don't always want to delete the cookies or offline content/Downloaded Program Files (like the Shockwave or Flash player).  Sure, it only takes a few minutes to redownload, but why bother when you don't have to.  ;D

And when I had dial-up, Shockwave took forever to get again and again, so that's how I learned what to delete and what not to.  ::)

That's why I do it manually. 8)

I do it manually sometimes too, but it's such a hassle getting to that directory in Win2k/XP/+.  Instead of just \Windows, it's in \Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\ and in my case I keep my data on a different drive than my programs, so I have to keep remembering to go to F:\ instead of C:\.  Much easier just using the browser. :P

You can always make a shortcut to that directory. I've only get one partition on this pc (in this OS), the (one) partition on the other drive is reserved for Linux.
Anyway, I do it manually on the old pc, I haven't done it on this new pc yet.

I remove everything manually because of the hidden folders Windows has. ;P

It saves a copy of all sites visited in extra-hidden folders, making you think that there was only ever one copy of things. ;P

Even if you specify in Windows Explorer to show all folders and files (also the hidden ones)?

That details the really hidden stuff. Desktop.ini is basically a special file Windows uses to keep folders really hidden, even when you try the show all option. You can delete everything in the desktop.ini except the top line and they won't regenerate the data that causes the folders to hide, thankfully. Thing is, even the desktop.ini files are hidden within the hidden folder so you have to do a little tweaking to keep the folders permanently viewable. I did this for one computer at school and found 500 megabytes worth of data in Temporary Internet in the secret area. :o
