I just played Laura Bow 2 for the first time today (installed it from my KQ Collection) and I couldn't help but notice the resemblence to KQ6 that it had. Are there any other Sierra adventure games that are like this?

Storm

I never played LB so I wouldn't know about any resemblence it has to KQ6, but there are many similar or re-occuring themes in the KQ series itself 8)

Yeah, I was talking about more the presentation, gameplay, graphics, sound more than the actual plot and content.

I've played a lot of Kings Quest so I know kind of what you mean about the recurring themes, although unfortunately I have a really short attention span when it comes to old games so I've only played extensively KQ 6, 7 and the Tierra remake of 2. Incidentally, I beat all those games.

There was a similarity between the graphics and presentation ;), but they were nothing a like XD

I guess I'm just asking if there are any other games using that specific engine made by Sierra.

(lol there are other similarities like the same door opening sound is used in both games and the graphics and animation are almost identical. Not to mention that the point and click interface is almost the same too.)

Sure! quite a few Sierra adventures used that engine (called SCI VGA, IIRC), including KQ5, QFG1, 3 & 4, Eco Quest1 & 2, Gabriel Knight 1, Freddy Pharka etc. I think there are games made with this engine in almost every one of their adventure series.
From what I gather, it's also the fans' favorite engine - most of the good fangames use something similar to it  :)

A really wicked similar adventure game is:

"Full Throttle"

It was released by LucasArts, I belive.  It was pretty funny and lots of fun.

The soundtrack was absolutely awesome, too!
(I forget who it was by, though...I'd probably buy the CD now!)

NP, dude! :) I actually haven't gotten to play the whole game yet... (only got as far as the spot where you need to get parts for the bike and gas and stuff... couldn't get past that *&@^#*!! dog...) but that little bit of trivia stuck in my head. :D

Peace & Luv, Liz
And what a useful piece of trivia it was.  I've wanted that album for a long time now.
As for getting by the dog, I forget how...but I remember how to get the gas.  You've got to go up the tower, set off the alarm, get back down and hide, and while they're searching up the tower, you've got to syphon the gas out of their hovercraft/jet/whatever. :D

And to get past the mines, you need the box of energizer bunnies.  You drop/use the box of bunnies, and pick up all of them.  (Then you have like, ten or whatever individual bunnies) You use one bunny at a time to set off the mines to make a path.

I just thought of another adventure game.  I could only make it so far and then it complete destroyed me.  It was unbeatable!

GOLD RUSH!

I would always die crossing the river if I went through the Panama Canal.
I would always die of scurvy if I took the boat around Cape Horn.
I would always die when my wagon rolled over on the hill going down to the river.

Piece of crap game. :D

We got through Gold Rush, the end was super disappointing... you went out into the California gold fields, found gold and that was it... very anti-climatic

I'm a big geek and bought an Xbox...:)

...but it's been a really long time since I've played any adventure game.  And Gold Rush just destroyed me...so I don't even know what the 2nd half of the game is like. :P
