I think Deloria was using the French spelling (derived from "connaitre"), which is the original form of the word.

I know.  :)  I was just pointing out that connoisseur is not an incorrect spelling of the English word.  And technically, in the context of an English language sentence, "connaisseur" would be incorrect.  ;)

Age ain't nothing but a number Atec. It's how you present yourself as a person that matters the most. No worries.  ;D

I know. :) Just the purist kicking in. :P I know it's spelled that way in English, though I may not like it. :P

Now that you've pointed it out, I definitely prefer "connaisseur".

atec, I'm sorry that you felt the need to appear older than you are. I was pretty impressed with your knowledge when I thought you were 18, so I'm certainly not any less impressed now! :D

I DON'T BELIEVE IT!  I'M CALLING YOUR MOTHER, YOU ARE TOO YOUNG TO BE ON THIS FORUM.

Hehe, seriously though... it doesn't matter to me how old you are.  I figured you were around 17 or 18 judging by your posts, but that just goes to show that you cannot judge a book by its cover.  As Master Yoda would say "Do not assume anything Obi Wan."

You could have probably just said your age from day one. I doubt anyone would have cared here.

When I was 14, my dad would never in a million years have given me my own computer on which to f*** around with various operating systems and programming and such.  Not bad, dude.  Not bad at all.  ;)

Lol. I was like 11 or 12 when I had my first computer. I took it apart and everything. Got a virus on it, but I knew how to format and reinstall DOS and everything. I remember my mom seeing me do it and asking my dad if I should be doing stuff like that and he said "As long as he's careful."

Now I'm a geek.

I didn't get my first computer that was officially my own possession (not my family's) til I left for college when I was 17.  ;)  My family always had multiple computers, in various rooms in the house, but never any in the kids' bedrooms--two were in our basement office/study, and one was in my parents' living room.  Personally, I think giving a child (or teenager) their own personal computer to use however they like is asking for trouble--but I suppose it depends on the kid.  ;)  I know how I was at that age, though--my young mind would have been corrupted even faster than it already was.   ;D

So it's your dad's fault? :P

From the sound of that story, I think it was too late for his dad to do anything about it. ;D Good thing, too - being a geek is cool!

Did I mention blame? I'm not saying it was anyone's "fault." :D
