Does anyone here like Doctor Who? old or new. I am enjoying the New series with Matt Smith.
Anyone else interested in talking about it.

KatieHal

I've been watching and loving the new series! :D Very fun show. I like Torchwood too--LOVED the Children of the Earth miniseries. That was just amazing.

Speaking of which, anybody played the Doctor Who Adventure games.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/theadventuregames

There's three games right now, but another one is due before this year's christmas special ep. Sarah Jane Adventures starts this monday in the UK. And Torchwood has a deal with american tv network starz and will be airing next year.

Yes DR Who is my favorite show and i also watch the Sarah Jane Adventures and there is also a K9 series made in Australia.

I tried playing the games but one of the puzzles i  didn't like was
was this type of maze where you try to get an item in or out of it and if you hit the lines it starts over. And you can't save in the middle of it.
That is when i decided to quit the game and just watch the playthrough on youtube.

KITTY EDIT: added spoiler tags :cat:

Yeah Doctor Who is my top show too.  I enjoy all of it old and new. I also enjoy the spinoffs
Torchwood, sarah jane adventures. Hey are you guys aware of the news about series 6. They are splitting
the 13 episodes up- 7 episodes the first half of the year. The 7th episode has a cliffhanger then there is a break
and the other 6 episodes play at the end of the year. Also who is your favourite doctor? My favourite doctor
is Matt Smith.

If you ever get far enough into the games you'll know that's one of the simpler puzzles.  8)
I generally don't like my adventures to have inner machinery puzzle elements and the like, keep it all external if you ask me. Granted you wanted adventure game and got mini-games thrown in, and the games are kind of adventure-lite and aimed at a target audience.
I love Doctor Who!  I even found episodes online from the 60s and 70s and watched through those.  I'm still trying to find the episodes Douglas Adams wrote.  I've only seen a few episodes of Torchwood, and I didn't really care for them save for Captain Jack.  I haven't seen the Sarah Jane Adventures, but I'll give it a shot.

I really want to play the games.  Unfortunately, my computer isn't good enough to run them.  It's annoying that the UK can download it for free while the rest of us can't, but looking at the price for all four episodes, I'd definitely be willing to pay that much.

As for my favorite Doctor, I'm torn between Matt Smith and David Tennant.  They're both so adorable.
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.

Aww!  You have the Sword of Hugging +3!  All of your attacks deal affectionate damage!

John

My favorite DR is Tom Baker. I only saw season 2 of Torchwood family version.I was hoping they had a Season 1 and Season 3 family version because the non family version is gory and i can't stand the sight of blood.

I'm fairly sure that the new Wii and DS games are not the same as the first two episodic adventures.

I'm a fan of the show, yup! Old and new. I grew up with the series during the 80s, 7th Doctor fan myself. And I'd love to see adventure games featuring the Doctor (whilst the BBC's (free in the UK) games are entertaining, I'm not sure they're all that "adventure" myself)!

For those of you who are interested, the two most recent eps of Sarah Jane Adventures feature the Doctor. It is quite informative for older fans of the series. These episodes are especially Doctor Who-ish. Check them out.

The last Doctor who adventure game is to be released on Christmas day, the same day as the Christmas special episode.

I love the new Dr. Who series. I've seen them all. I'm not a big fan of the new Dr.(I like Amy Pond though.) but it's still good. I enjoyed Torchwood too. Unfortunately they have only aired the first season of Sara Jane over here. I still haven't seen season 2 and 3.

I haven't seen the old Dr. Who's but I plan to. I didn't know about the game. I'll have to look into them.

Thanks.

I can't seem to get into the new ones. I have tried but there is something about them that turns me off. I like the old ones, through.

Actually out of all the new Doctors Matt Smith is npw my favourite. Christopher Eccleston didn't feel like a
doctor to me. He didn't dress like a Doctor and everyone saved the day for him. David Tennant was a fantastic
actor, although you could tell it was hard for him not to use his scottish accent and yes he saved the day.
But he seemed almost god like at the end. Matt Smith's Doctor, while still being modern, feels like he's gone back
to the Doctors in the original series.

Yeah there is one thing that puts me  off the new series there is a lot more sillyness than in the older series.
You should try Matt Smith, as I said earlier, while still modern it has gone back to some of its original roots.

Arkillian

I'm new to Doctor Who in the grand scale of things. I've seen all of Eccelston, a bit of Tennant, and I own all of Matt Smith's episodes. Matt Smith is my favourite (Ok, I'm a bias Amy Pond fan) but I don't really have alot to compare it to. I haven't seen any old stuff.

I have done fanart though :)

Wow, those are really good, Arkillian! You've got their expressions down--Tennant's look, and I love the look and whole demeanor of Amy, it's spot-on.

Thanks :) I got a book a year or so back on facial expressions- it helped me a HEAP on nailing expressions. I felt it was really important not just cause of my normal art, but my comic art specially. Getting the right expression for a comic is really important cause you need to call on it easily. Otherwise the pages take too long

I'm glad you like Matt Smith as the Doctor. I did like eccleston and Tennant in their doctor role. Its just that Matt Smith feels more like the older doctors, more alien - a modern Patrick Troughton who was the 2nd Doctor.
Oh and that artwork is fantastic i wish i could draw like that.

darthkiwi

I also like Matt Smith as the most recent Doctor. I thought Eccleston was a good choice to reboot the series: he had all the "I'll just hack this terminal effortlessly" geekiness but had a bit of an action-man vibe which gave the reboot an extra kick.

Having said that, I can't say I'm sorry he left after one season. Not because I think he was a bad Doctor, but because Tenant was just fantastic. And I wasn't sure whether Matt Smith would be able to step into those big, responsibility-laden shoes, but he's so perfect for the role that I never thought he was an inferior successor. He simply *is* the Doctor now, and that's that.

Looking forward to the Christmas special ;D
