I suppose, but I would prefer obtaining it legally. :P
So what if I am, huh? Anyways, I work better when I'm drunk. It makes me fearless! If I see a bad guy, I'll just point my sword at him and saaaaaaaaaay, "Hey! Bad guy! You're not s'posed to be here! Go home or I'll stick you with my sword 'til you go, 'Ouch! I'm dead!' Ah-ha-ha!" Ha-ha. *hic* See? Ain't no one gonna be messin' wit' ol', Benny!

KQ4 AGI is one that I don't find myself missing terribly in the grand scheme of things.  Mainly it's because the artwork seems to have been done natively in the higher res SCI graphics and then filtered down to AGI, so a lot of the screens have random ugly pixels that are the result of the scaling process.  Or maybe I'm just crazy and not reading the low res images correctly.  :)  That said, I LOVE native AGI graphics, as well as native SCI graphics--I just hate when things get scaled or altered from what they were originally supposed to look like.

Baggins

Ya, agreed. Though one thing to note about KQ4AGI is that some of hte screens are graphically different than KQ4. A few extra bushes here or there, and as I recall the facade of the haunted house is different. Covered in stones, IIRC.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Even if it's faulty, completists (such as myself) would like owning it just for the sake of having it. Admittedly it's a pretty silly reason, though. :-\

...and the old King's Quest and Space Quest Collections came with examples of foreign versions of the games. Collectors are interested in a variety of things.

The only thing playing KQ4 AGI for though is the easter eggs specific to it :)

Yup. But it's that tiny bit of rationale that I cling to. ^_^

Really? That's rather interesting.

Ya, for example I think 15th anniversary version collection, came with german and french floppy versions of KQ6 to represent examples of their localizations for collector's interested in that kind of thing.

Really? I can't agree with you there. The AGI screens seem definitely drawn with the AGI tools to me....or at least traced, if that was possible back then. They're also based more on the first SCI release of KQ4 rather than the second more popular release which looks completely different. But they all have their differences, enough not to be filtered conversions. Like the scene with the pool with those two trees. The SCI and AGI versions look very different. And the dithered colours. Dithering isn't possible in AGI so that was all drawn by hand manually. And if it was scaled down it wouldn't be dithered properly.

Again, for those who aren't aware and missed it the last 5 times or so I've posted it elsewhere on the internet (and possibly here), some screenshots from all 3 versions:

AGI:

SCI (early):

SCI (later, more popular):

Also note that the pool shape is completely different perspective-wise in the AGI version, so not a simple scale.

Baggins

I understand that there was apparently two versions of AGI versions as well. The latter versions disabled many of the Easter eggs.

Interesting...I had been under the impression that a lot of the graphics were scaled.  Admittedly it's been quite a while since I've touched the AGI version--I'll have to give it another look.

GOG is taking preorders for The Witcher 2. They explained that this is a rare occasion, but it's for the benefit of CD Projekt RED (their "sister company"). I think this is interesting and is a real break from the norm. However, I personally will be getting The Witcher 2 on Steam, since I already purchased the first Witcher game on Steam. Still, GOG has some bonuses for those who preorder the game from them.

I picked up The Longest Journey the other day from Gog.com. I've been shutting myself away in my dorm until 2 or 3 AM playing that game. I've become addicted to yet another adventure game. As for Broken Sword, I have the first director's cut for the DS (Ironically, an employee at gamestop told me I was not leaving that store until I bought Broken Sword. I say ironically because he didn't try to push an FPS on me. He apparently likes adventure games. Back then, he was just the cool gamestop dude. Now, he's my co-worker.) But considering the broken sword games are all on sale on gog, I am very tempted to give in and buy them... But I really want Revolution to focus on the sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky. Which, if you haven't yet played, download it for the iphone/ipod touch. It's one of the best adventure games I've ever played.
