A Little Cuppa (possible ep. 3 spoiler, dunno)

So I was trying to make some nightshade tea in Ep. 2 (got off track, I know now):
--Got the vessel
--Got the correct type of water
--Tried the bookstore fire
--Tried the castle torches
--Tried warming it on the Isle of Wonder sand
--Tried grabbing an ember from bookshop, then tried lighting the smithy to grab a coal from there

Needless to say, nothing worked. Is the "less intense" way of boiling the cup possible in ep. 2? If so, what is it? Because I'm really stumped.

Very clever thinking!

In episode 2, you need to focus on just the items currently showing on the scroll. Does anything on there look like it needs to be boiled?

Apparently not, since I got through without completing the boiling, but I had thought there was no harm in asking. Y'know, on the off chance that something extra could be completed.

Thanks for answering!

Very creative! :D
Not so much, given the "correct action" noise that happens when you fill the cup. What else do you do with a filled cup?
Drink it ("are you done trying crazy things"?"), mix something ("who taught you that logic?"), or boil it by stuffing it in the fire ("let's not make it suffer for nothing" with the wrong water, "Graham doesn't want to kill the poor thing; there's gotta be a less intense way" with the right water).
By process of elimination, I settled on a tisane as the lethal liquid... before checking the hints. Wrong conclusion. *Sighs.* Now I'm just curious how Graham is supposed to boil the cup. Next episode, I guess.

I tried almost the same thing!  I never tried boiling it, but I definitely tried filling the cup and shoving the flower in it.  I THOUGHT the little ding sound played the first time I filled it, but when I dumped it and tried seawater it didn't do it. :(

...unless it's a Red Herring altogether. With all the time POS put into this game, and the things they've had to chop short, that would not be a surprise.

Still, it's nice to know I'm not nuts, regarding this task, Haids. Have I the pleasure of addressing someone else who cut his/her adventuring teeth on the Infocom catalogue? Also, have you seen any other half-completion tasks in ep. 2? It's difficult to believe the boiling cup would be the only one, given the complex interleaving involved in episodic development, and growing a list of them would be useful for future hint-giving/hint-requesting purposes.

Or maybe I just forgot to remove the 'points' sound effect from filling the cup...  The world may never know!

Well, that sound effect should be there, but....ohh, right, can't say too much!  :suffer:

Originally, yes, but now there's just a sound.

Yeah--the points system may come back when we make the director's cut, but for now it's just that noise you hear when you do something right. Which I'm glad is still there--it's nice to know you've gotten something right, especially on more frustrating puzzles!

*Considers.* Nah. You did it entirely on purpose, of course. ;)

KindofDoon's right, a return of the points would be cool. But thanks for leaving the sound in for now-- it's one of those "reward" stimuli that vogue grind games seem to forget anymore. Just goes to prove TSL is of a higher calibre.
